Not much to improve on here. Really nice aroma... in many ways this beer is reminsicent of a good barley wine. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel, spicy aroma with an alcoholic warmth that balance with a sweet body.

Bottle 750 mL. A good inch of floaties in the bottle. Golden orange ale with a thin white head. Light metallic and acidic aroma, like pickles. In mouth, light candy sugar malt, tingly mouthfeel, surranated hops, and alcohol warmth. I did not mind as much as the others, but this is not to par with other Rocs. Sampled with Mtl crew, April 16 2006.

Aaarh the beer that took me into that fabled top 100 group of raters . I wanted something to honour the occasion and I thought that this would be appropriate. This is a 33cl bottle I bought at Noel Cuveliers farm and beer shop on the Belgian/French border on a Sunday morning in March. A rich ruby in colour with lasting beige head and some rather large floaters. A rather wonderful aroma. Rich fruits but also grapefruity hops as well. Full and rich in the mouth with more strawberry and grapefruit with a dry hoppy finish that contains some residual red berry fruit sweetness as well as citrus grapefruity hop. A wonderful blend of rich malt fruit and tantilising hop. Excellent beer.

Pours deep orange/ruby into a trappist glass. Even, medium sized cream colored head. Caramel, earth, fig and apple notes. Creamy and full with a sour apple lingering finish.

Cloudy amber body with big, off-white head. Yeast floating throughout. Aroma has notes of dried fruit and spice, especially clove. Sweet smells of caramel and raisin. The flavor is mainly sweet — raisins and plums, caramel and clove. The alcohol is apparent, but not overwhelming. Medium body with a moderately long, moderately sticky finish. Nicely done.

Hazy copper pour, off-white head. Suspended bits of yeast throughout. Light aroma of sweet caramel and spices — a hint of clove. The flavor is full of spice and sweet caramel and a note of earthiness. There is a slight tartness. Medium body is smooth on the palate, syrupy in the aftertaste with a long finish.

Bottle: Poured a extremely cloudy dirty brown color ale with a super huge off-white foamy head with good retention (lots of ‘’chunks’’ were discernable in the glass). Aroma of floral malt with some funky yeast. Taste is dominated by sweet caramel malt but the yeast presence was just shadowing most of the taste profile. This wasn’t a particularly bad thing as I did appreciate the funky feel from the yeast. Alcohol is well hidden and body if fuller then average.

Amber with a white head. Grapefruit, dried fruits, licorice and malt aromas. Sweet, quite simple flavour of caramel, dark sugar and fruit, with a dry finish.

Bottle. Gold/copper with thin white head. Slightly rubbery toffee with good citrus/grapefruit. Some golden syrup. Nice hops run throughout. Finish is good. Big chunky floaters. Ugh, doesn’t affect the taste but its hard to drink with that going on.

Burst forth from the bottle. Immediately poured into a trappist glass. Deep, cloudy brown with plenty of sediment. Dates, figs and plums -- hint of cherries in the aroma. Full bodied with roasted nuts, molasses and a sweet, long caramel finish.
