Description
Pictish Brewing Company is a small independent brewery established in April 2000 by Richard Sutton. Early in 2013 Richard decided to opt for an easier life and skive off leaving things in the hands of his old friend Paul Wesley. We brew a wide variety of high quality cask conditioned ales and deliver direct to the licensed trade in the Lancashire, Manchester and West Yorkshire areas.

440ml can, online from Cloudwater. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma: sweet & herbal. It looks and smells like a ubiquitous dull British golden beer. Taste: moderate sweet & light to moderate bitter, bright, grassy. Medium body with soft carbonation. Very traditional, but decent flavours

Can at THT online. Clear golden with white head. Massive fresh pale malt, soft herbal hops, light bready, lemon rind. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. Classic UK style, nice malts and body but not too hoppy. Decent.

Can at home, from CW online, 01/12/20. Clear golden amber with a decent off white head that retains well. Nose is malt forward, caramel, grains, bread dough. Taste comprises caramel, bread, hint of orange, malted bite, biscuit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a moderate level of bitterness. Could well be a new recipe looking at the origin of the beer ... perhaps not ... looks like a 'my first IPA' love in back then ... more a malt forward affair now akin to an English strong. Ok offering ... nothing I'd return to.

Clear golden with white head. Sweet malts, earl grey & wet hops, floral pollen/nectar notes, trad. English dead cask ale. Sweet, leathery bitter, somewhat sickly notes. Firm body. Low carbonation. I like that it’s different from what I usually drink.

Can at home. Clear deep golden with fluffy almost white head. Caramel malts, bread crust, has this lovely deep malty nose. Later more apple, flowers, soft berries, bitter herbs. Medium sweet and quite bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Has a lovely nose but also some stuff I don't like a lot. Quite interesting though, and a nice change from all the NEIPAs of now.
