Vintage 2003 11.2 oz Bottle, cellared at Oaktree in New Jersey, purchase mid-March 2007. Pour is golden with a settling white head with some nice layering to the pour. Aroma is sour, with the wood highlights. Flavor is sour citrus, though I would put it as aged lemon. There is also the taste of the malt and the barrel aging in there as well. Nice complexity to this one, but I just am not a huge sour fan yet.

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized sparklingly bubbly head, which settles into a smaller head quite fast. Aroma is sweet peach with some hints of other fruits. Also some spicyness and a weak "glueish" hint of alcohol. Flavour is sweet malts, metallic, peachy, fruity and slightly yeasty. Very fruity aftertaste.

(bottle, with thanks to bierkoning for the sample!) Hazy, pale golden colour with a huge foamy blond head. Moderately yeasty and sweet, fruity (citrus) and slightly bready aroma, also with a mouldy sourish touch. Medium-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a crispy carbonation. Pale malt-character, citrus fruity and slightly spicy taste. Quite short, sweet-bitter finish with a shy hoppy blend. Unsatisfying Tripel.

On tap at the Wharf, Aalborg. It has a more pink than red body, cloudy, with a nice pinkish-white head leaving lacings. Raspberry-sweet aroma and flavor. Too sweetish I think, it leaves fur on your teeth. Not much of a beer, but I guess it sort of a way works on a hot summer day. (070331)

Bottle. Mahogony brown beer with a big beige head, LIght malty, yeasty aroma. Oaky, light malt, yeasty flavor with some backing berry fruit and a tinny finish. Lingering tin and yeasty berry/malt. Medium body. Only slightly tart. I remember this as being somewhat better.

Bottle, 5.8% as Bavik Ezel Witbier. Dusty and lemony aroma with clove. Hazy yellow/orange colour. Good stable white head. The flavour is dominated by lemon with yoghurt acidity, ending with alcohol bitterness. Peppery finish. Good mouthfeel.

Bottle. Frothy white excellent mostly lasting head. Muddy orange colour. Powerfull raspberry aroma. Nice raspberry flavor. Very sweet and a little artificial. Long finish. Syruply palate.

A good beer but not very true to style. The sourness is very subtle. Light oak in the aroma. A brown, not red beer. Some sourness and I wrote in my notes it was like a Flemish red because I wasn’t sure what I was drinking.

Bottled at the Belgian Embassy in Oslo. A clear, deep brown beer with a beige, almost tan head. The nose is mostly cherry-like, with some sour notes as well. Not bad, just a bit shallow. It has a sweel, caramelized flavor with some cellar notes. Medium body and caramel finish. A refreshing beer, but it feels like it was made to please everyone. (070301)

On tap at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. The pour is nice dark brown but not opaque. It also possesses a dark orangish tinge. The head is a froth of off white. The aroma is not strong but it does have fruity or berry hints floating around the ambient air. The flavor starts with an impressive, but likable, musty taste bud appeal. As you swallow, it turns slightly sour. This is not as sour or sweet as the other Flemish I have had, Roden Classic. This is much milder in the tart department, more mansuetude than I expected. Very well behaved, gentlemanlike manners. Mild and repeatable. Lacks any bitter palate. A friendly beer that is easy to enjoy. The carbonation is mild but pleasantly present. The finish of this brew is amicable at the least. You can drink many of these and never know it had alky in there. Overall an interesting entry, no worries with this beer.
