Description

Since 22 december 2020 owned completely by Huttenkloas where also all the beers are brewed.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Gents Bierfestival 2015. Deep red amber, solid tanned head. Nose is metallic, coper, sugar, candy,… Taste is metallic, copper, very heavy on metallic & coper quality, candy, brown sugar, malts,… Metallic body. Just about mangeable. I don’t appear to like the beers by this brewery very much.

At GBF. Saison with American aspirations apparently, bearing a stable, creamy, yellowish beige head and showing a warm orangey blonde colour. Aroma of (strangely) pickled gherkins, dried apricot, caramel, floral hops, hint of white pepper, pineapple; fruity taste, sour berry tartness, smooth mouthfeel, bit spicy with a toasted malt character and mild floral hop bitterishness in the finish. I guess the idea of ’pickled gherkins’ in the aroma is inspired by some American farmhouse ale?

Hybrid between saison and IPA, a promising premise... Stable, egg-white head over a clear orange blonde beer. Aroma has caramel, peach, orange, flowers, white pepper but unfortunately DMS (cooked cauliflower) as well. Fruity, peachy onset, caramelly maltiness, a bit toasted, ending in floral, peppery hop bitterness. Quite average, not excelling either as an IPA or as a saison, and too bad for the DMS. Expected more from it.

(Thx! for sharing) Sampled @ Gents Bierfestival 2015. Dark brown, mocha head. Nose is herbal leaves, bitter, licorice, straight-up vegetables,… Taste is herbal, leaves, bitter leaves, licorices, burned malts, roast, roasted coffee,… Rather thin & grainy. Not really what I look for in a RIS.

Taste is herbal, big on herbal coffee, charcoal, burned malts, licorice, caramel, instant coffee & light sugar. Grainy & bit thin body. Head gone, some lace over brown-black beer. Sweet coffee nose, liquorice, some wood, caramel. Bitterish coffee, coffeedrab, some caramel (or maple syrup, not definite), dullish. Quite well-bodied feel, thick & slick; slowly fading flavours. Oh well, yeah, another one - not bad.
