(Bottle, Poechenellekelder, Brussels, 19 Oct 2024) Hazy golden colour with big frothy white head. Traces of lacing. Fruity nose with notes of citrus, orange peel, coriander and herbs. Malty, fruity taste with orange, pineapple, herbs, coriander, candy sugar and a gentle herbal/spicy bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich, solid and well made tripel. Very nice.

330ml bottle. Pours a murky brown color with a big foamy beige head that has good retention and lacing. The aroma is medium in strength with cola, dark fruits, Belgian yeasts, and some spicy noble hops. The taste is similar to the nose--cola, brown sugar, raisins, and toasted malts. The palate is medium in viscosity with soft carbonation. Finishes long and semi-sweet. Overall: Decent brew, one that defines and exemplifies the category. Paired well with some goat cheese gouda.

About time I got to this one. Pours a dark mahogany with good sized and lasting beige foam. Aroma of malts, caramel, figs, dried fruits, sugar. Taste has notes of caramel, treacle, dried fruits, blackcurrant, candy sugar, plenty of alcohol warmth but not abrasive, rich but not sickly. Medium to full bodied and thankfully not too heavy, lively soft carbonation. Very flavoursome indeed. I prefer the Rochefort 8 but this is still a very fine beer.

Bottle from House of Trembling Madness, York. Pours a hazy amber-red with lasting off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, cocoa dusting, figs, raisins; inviting. Taste is delicious with toffee malts, brown bread, caramel, figs, pear skins. Very luscious helped by creamy smooth body and a gentle soft carbonation. Excellent.

Bottle from HOTM, online. Semi-hazy gold with foamy white head, lots of sediment in mine. Aroma of sweet malts, hay, candied orange, pear, alcohol. Taste of banana, syrup, pear, clove, mint, bitter slightly boozy finish. Medium slightly creamy body. Flavoursome Tripel with a kick in the finish - I like it.
