Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

On tap at Threefold. Pours hazy ruby with a pink head. Rustic saison yeast, a touch oak, dragonfruit, and, some bugs on the nose. Flavour has lots of juicy dragonfruit, some rustic yeast, a little bit of bugs, and noticeable cheerios on the finish. Not the best-calibrated saison.

On tap at Threefold. Pours black with a thin white head. Nose is very deep; full of bready malts, crusts, dark sugars, and tons of charred bourbon barrels. Flavour is rich and complex, full of brown bread, crusts and burnt dark sugars, all wrapped in a charred bourbon barrel. Complex and well-calibrated, this is phenomenal.

On tap at Threefold, pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a small beige head. Aroma is remarkably complex, with big bourbon barrels, brown sugar, toffee, and vanillin. Flavour is no less exquisite, with huge bourbon barrel character, brown sugar, some vanillin, and toffee. Super elegant and rich bourbon character, with just enough booze. Remarkable—one of the best things to come out of the Vancouver scene in years.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

On tap at Threefold, pours a cloudy dark purpleish red with a small pink-tinged white head. Nose is huge on the blueberry, rustic farmhouse yeast, and a touch of hay. Flavour is massive on the blueberry—almost completely fermented out—with rustic saison yeast, and light hay. Finishes fruity, dry, and lightly funky. Really nice incorporation of the blueberries. Very good.

On tap at Threefold, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a lot of foeder dominating, with spicy saison yeast and a light floral character. Flavour is very dry, with lots of the foeder stealing the show, accentuating the nice, lightly spicy yeast profile. Simple, dry and drinkable. Good.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 7 | Overall - 7

On tap at Threefold, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals plenty of spruce tips, some rustic saison yeast in back, and light wood. Flavour is likewise dominated by the spruce tips, with a spicy saison yeast underpinning it, and a bone dry finish. Very sprucey and dry. Good stuff.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full head.Initial aromas include a ton of rosemary, sweat and juniper followed by meaty gin and toasted malts. Flavors are a little bit more balanced and follow same, but with a good dose of plastic, soap and oak. Seems a bit weird and off balance to me. Maybe a bad can? Certainly not in line with the tap reviews…

Light brown, no head. Ok, so big plastic phenols on this, I mean that is the dominant character. Some sweetness up front, then a boozy barrel character. I get bubblegum, but not a whole lot else. So this is brandy barrels? So there's a bit of that, maybe, but so much bubblegum.
