Description
Hawkstone is the brainchild of Jeremy Clarkson and Rick and Emma from the Cotswold Brew Co. Having put blood, sweat and tears into cultivating his malting barley, Jeremy was determined that it be put to good use, so resolved to supply it directly to a local brewery to turn into lager. He was introduced to Rick and Emma from the Cotswold Brewery by the landlord at their local and they hit it off immediately. Like Jeremy, they’re committed to supporting local agriculture but they’re not just good people, they’re also excellent brewers. They created Hawkstone Lager - a brew of such exquisite quality that Jeremy decided to invest.

Panda from LCB. Clear gold, small white top. A slightly soapy lemon aroma with cereal. Taste of grains, grass, lemon sherbet, light hibiscus. Mid bodied, drying, somewhat cloying, bitter. More flavour profile than your average pale lager but its not that refreshing or tasty in truth.

330ml can 1 month past BBE. Light cloudy yellow-gold, moderate sized foamy head. Grainy and sweet malts, hay, light floral aroma. Taste is overtly sweet, somewhat tangy, smooth malts with grainy notes, grassy. Light to medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A mixed affair but better than a Carling or a Tennant's. Other than that I don't really get the USP and British aspect when it uses continental hops and is trying to be a Pilsner.

330ml bottle from Connollys Wine Merchants, online. Pours a clear gold, small white head which lasts well. Aroma is sweet malts, grassy hop with a hint of spice. Taste is bready, very grassy, long bitter finish with a sweet tang, spice notes. Light to medium bodied, smooth. Slightly too sweet but its still good for a pale lager.

Can Cheers to Lee for this one. Clear deep amber brown beer, decent pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. An impressive chocolate streak in the dark malts, light dark chocolate cake and a little ganache. Light crisp pine. Touch of ripe fruits. Light crisp finish. A nice crisp choccy ale, is it a dark lager? Maybe!

Bottle from Cooperative Supermarket in Cromer, but drank well away from the town centre and its attractive pier. Golden with a small bubbly head. Easier than its sister brew but to be expected, but still maintains a fair body. Light lager malt lingers in the palate.

Bottle from the Cooperative Supermarket in the seaside town of Cromer, but I took this one away from the town centre to drink elsewhere at a later time. Healthy clear golden with a small head. Pretty standard but with a notable body to it.
