Kupferrote Farbe, fast glasklar. Grobporiger Schaum. Der Geruch bietet verschiedene Ausbaustufen von Trauben in der Nase: Traubensaft, Rotwein, Sherry. Auch etwas aromatisches Holz. Geschmacklich findet sich das auch - nur weniger davon. Die holzigen Noten bestehen noch am stärksten. Insgesamt tut sich geschmacklich nicht so viel - das Bier hat auch nur 4,2 % Alk. Der Anflug eines Hauchs von verdorbenen Früchten und medizinischen Noten flattern ganz kurz vorbei. Wird das Bier wärmer kommen leicht metallische Nuancen dazu. Hopfung dezent - und vermutlich nur mit Bitterhopfen und nicht mit Aromahopfen. Das Bier ist sehr weich, wenig Kohlensäure. Fazit: Eiskalt serviert ein guter Durstlöscher. Kann man machen - muss man aber nicht. Das ist ganz sicher kein Beispiel für die allerhöchste Form der englischen Braukunst. Wären die namensgebenden Spitfire-Flugzeuge tatsächlich so wie dieses Bier gewesen, würde die ganze Welt jetzt vermutlich Sauerkraut fressen.

Old rating from 2014 - 500ml bottle, pours amber colour with a tiny white head. Aromas & tastes of oranges, apricots, marmalade, herbs, grass & flora. Moderate body. Dry mild bitter finish.

Cask at the small Coal + Glass in the backs between Scotland Yard and Victoria Station in London. Golden with a small head. Golden style ale with pale ale qualities including a dryness, and not a huge amount of flavour, but enough. Has a light sweetness.

0.5 l bottle. Deep amber color, quickly disappearing head. Piney, malty aroma with fruity scents. Bittersweet taste with short finish. Light to medium body. Nice brew for a macro beer.

0.5 l bottle. Pours clear amber color with no head. Fruity notes and slight hoppy bitterness in aroma and taste. Short bitterish finish, light to medium body, soft carbonation. Not too complex yet good balanced brew.
