Description
Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September.

We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer!

Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too!

Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery.
Cheers!

Pours very, very dark brown. I won’t quite call this black. Burgundy brown at the edges. Tan head, medium-sized. Some lacing. Retention is always difficult to judge with a bar pour. Luckily, I don’t care in the slightest. Chocolate in the aroma. Mostly milk chocolate with a bit of depth. Mild roast. Some caramel sweetness. Taste is similar. Mostly chocolate milk. There’s more roast. Mild vegetal hoppiness. Moderate to medium sweet. Finishes with light bitterness and caramel. Medium body. Lighter carbonation than most of their beers. Nice stout.

Great mix of smoke and coffee. Really matches name. Pours black with good head and lacing. A little too much coffee but still super well integrated. Bitter finish. Creamy texture. Thanks to dude for growler taste of this.

Wonderful fresh hops smell and upon first so it even seems like there is some beer in these hops. Lots of grapefruit, pine, and some grass. Big citrus and some light malt. Pours cloudy golden with good head and lacing. Very bitter finish. Growler brought fresh from brewpub tasted thanks to jbassdc from untappd.

Pours a light amber gold color. Darker than most of Cellarmaker’s hoppy stuff but still on the paler end of the DIPA spectrum. Small white head. Growler pour might be affecting that. Little lacing. The aroma is sweet and hoppy. Peaches, white grape juice, pine, some tangerine. There’s some malt sweetness, gets a bit bubblegum-ish. A touch of booze. The taste has a lot of hop flavor but is a bit harsher than I’ve come to expect from Cellarmaker. Lots of that peachy, white grape juice hop flavor. Fairly dank. Big pine note with a dose of resin. More bitterness than expected. Some citrus pith. A bit boozy but not bad for 9% abv. It’s still fairly subdued but there’s more malt charater than I’m used to in their beers. Pretty standard carbonation, maybe a bit low. A touch of hop oiliness. Finish is a bit harsh with booze and bitterness. Good DIPA but probably the weakest of the hoppy stuff on recently. It’s more of an old school, punchy hop DIPA. It’s hard to call it disappointing because the beer is still quite good, but my standards for this brewery’s hoppy offerings have gotten a bit ridiculous.

Pours pale gold. The liquid is just a bit cloudy, relatively clear for a Cellarmaker beer. Medium-sized white head, probably would be a bit bigger from the tap rather than a growler. The aroma is all sweet, fruity hops. Mouthwateringly juicy. Big on tropical and sweet floral notes. Mango, pineapple, papaya, melon, white grape juice, tangerine, a little pine, a touch of grass. Honey and fruit. Just makes you want to keep going back for more. The taste is bright and fruity with that same tropical fruit hop flavor. Just a bit of malt sweetness. Finishes dry. Lots of mango, white grape juice, pineapple. A bit more pine and grass. Mouthfeel is light but full. Normal carbonation. It’s actually a bit creamy. This is just a wonderfully made IPA. It’s incredibly easy to drink. Great flavor. Delicious.

Pours a pale gold, nice and bright. The liquid is pretty cloudy. Rocky white head that leaves some lacing down the walls of the glass. There’s huge pineapple in the aroma, just a big old burst of juice. It’s a little bit vegetal, though that might be from freshness - they put it on today. It’s all hops. Some pine. Interestingly dank. Lime, honeysuckle, tangerine. It’s a whole bunch of sweet, juicy hops that leans heavily towards tropical fruit. Taste is full of hop flavor, as I’ve come to expect from Cellarmaker. Lots more tropical citrus. Big on pineapple, again. Fairly dry but still juicy and easy to drink. Very light malt lends little flavor, maybe just a hint of simple sweetness in the background. Bitterness is mild. Crisp, light feel. It seems a bit more effervescent than some of their beers. This is really nice stuff. Cellarmaker makes awesome hoppy beers, and this is no exception.

Half pint draft at the brewery tasting room in San Francisco, California. The pour is mostly clear golden yellow, with a ½ inch white head that is lasting. The aroma is lemon and orange citrus, pine, and mango fruit. Clean engaging nose. The taste is balanced between clean fresh cracker malt and the bright hop notes of the nose - lemon, orange, mango and the taste reveals some grass and resin. The palate is light bodied, fine active carbonation and dry clean finish. Super drinkable beer, tasty.

Draft at the brewery tasting room in San Francisco, California. The pour is clear yellow golden with a small white head. The aroma is pineapple fruit, lemon citrus, hint of resin dank. The taste explodes with flavors, all of the hop notes pineapple, lemon, pine resin along with a clean fresh backbone of cereal grain malt. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft natural carbonation and a clean dry finish. Expertly made beer, tasty.

Pours a pale golden color.  It?s very cloudy but still transparent enough to see my fingers on the other side of the glass - super important info.  Small white head leaving just a bit of lacing. The aroma has tons of passionfruit alongside a good dose of pineapple.  It?s very tropical.  Not quite as juicy as some of their hoppy stuff, but I?m grasping for criticism here.  Floral flavors - honeysuckle, roses. Taste is juicier with a big hit of that tropical fruit salad hoppiness. Passionfruit, pineapple, sweet flowers. Just a touch of malt sweetness. The beer finishes dry with light bitterness.  Mild vegetal note in there somewhere. Feel is light and carbonation is effervescent.  Packs a lot of hop flavor for the abv. Cellarmaker is brewing some wonderful hoppy beers and this is among the best of the recent offerings.  It?s tropical, crushable and lovely.

Nitro pour, so you just know it looks good or at least like pretty much any black beer on on nitro. Black body with a creamy tan head, that creamy beige. Tons of lacing. Pretty pour for their first nitro selection. Aroma has huge chocolate, just a big dose of semi sweet chocolate sauce. There’s mild smoke, which kinda gets lost in the chocolate. Some caramel. Solid roast. Pretty big coffee, really good flavor. Taste has plenty of chocolate but more roast and coffee. There’s probably a little more smoke, still fairly mild. Mild cola. The coffee is recognizably from Sightglass - I like coffee - and has a nice roast level with some chocolate, vanilla and berry flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy but a bit less so than most nitro pours - no idea if that is about the beer, a conscious decision or just early kinks with the nitro tap. Very solid beer. Better than I remember it from last time. The coffee and chocolate flavors come together very well, and it works perfectly with the smooth nitro pour. Delicious. Probably the best non-hoppy beer that I’ve had from Cellarmaker.
