On tap at Café Hesp. This could well be an alias for another van Steenberge 7% beer, but info on that is nowhere to be found. The staff of Café Hesp just told me it’s their own beer. The beer itself: Clear golden orange colour, pillowy white head. Aroma of light sour fruits, coriander/aniseed. Flavour is spicy and sweet, coriander upfront with anise, fruity and malty, leading to a spicy light bitter finish. Spiciness tickles the tongue. Medium bodied. A bit too much coriander, but OK overall.

330 ml bottle. Slightly hazy, golden body with a big white head. Aroma is somewhat hoppy with lots of fruit and some malt. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, a bit fruity and some bitterness. It’s rather plain and ordinary but quite pleasant anyway. Not particular bitter even if its called hoppenbier. A decent thirst-quencher.

Bottle, 7% as Rock n Roel Bier. Weak fruity aroma. Cloudy dark yellow colour. The flavour is quite average, but clearly has some chili. The chili level is good, warming, but not burning too much.

bottle, pours black, tall tan head, some floaties. Burnt sugar, coffee and dark malt aroma. Strong dark malt flavor ending very bitter and very dry with an expresso, burn sugar edge. Very nice. Low carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Could drink tons of this, it’s really dry and bitter and all around nice!

Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Deep rubyish brown colour, small brownish bubbly head. Aroma is juniper, licorice, caramel and some mild notes of alcohol. Flavour is licorice, spices, caramel, fruits, malts and some cool wooden and herbal notes which stay in the throat. Very nicely balanced thing.
