Originally rated December 2005. Second beer of my IPA night. Purchased at Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours an amber colour with a medium head that leaves good lace. The nose is caramel, nut and hop. Medium bodied mouthfeel. The taste is a mix of the caramel malt and the hop. Nice bitterness throughout that is above average. Very close to the Bièropholie IPA, except no haziness and slightly less hop in the taste.

Originally rated December 2005. Third in my IPA night of rockin’. Purchased at Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. The label says, 104 IBU and 6% ABV. Pours the same as the Bièropholie IPA, hazy caramel-amber colour with a big creamy tanned head. Retention is awesome, so is the lacing. No caramel in this one though, just plain hop. The taste is the same, pure hop. Not too bitter though, just hoppy tasting. Dry finish mouthfeel. Also bread scent in the aroma. Well brewed, and very good if you like the hop taste and not the bitterness.

Originally rated June 2006. Sampled the first time at l’Autre Oeil in Aylmer, Quebec a few years back, and really had enjoyed it. Now, got a 6 pack (2005 edition) at Marché Jovi in Hull. Pours a black colour with very slim red highlights. Big brown foamy-cream head with good retention and nice all-around patchy lacing. Smells roasted malt, candy found in stouts, and of course... the beautiful burnt wood. Mild alcohol and apples too. The mouthfeel is pretty watery with some light stickiness. Good bitterness in the start with a smooth finish of coffee, candy, chocolat and mild smoke lingering away. Nice wood taste shows up late. Very well-brewed smoked porter that is worth it from time to time.

Originally rated March 2006. Bought at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Written 2005 on the label. Pours a dark brown colour with a big tanned head. Medium retention with some nice little streak lace. Good layer of cream and bubble stay on top of the brew. Reddish highlights come of the brew. The nose is of molasse, nuts and roasted malt. Semi-syrupy mouthfeel and full-bodied. Smooth start with the flavours, with roasted malts and going to a slight bitter finish of hop. Good balance of both in the aftertaste with the molasse. Quite nice.

Originally rated July 2006. Bought at La Trappe À Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. It pours a slightly hazy amber-orange-red colour with a big creamy tanned head. Retention is real good, carbonation is average and lace is chunky. The nose is full of caramel malt, molasse, nuts and golding hop. Creamy and mild tart mouthfeel. Good clean bitterness in the beginning, but then calms down quite a bit in the finish. Not much lingers. Pretty decent, but I still prefer their Cascade version (which is the same beer, but with cascade hop instead of golding).

Originally rated December 2005. Purchased at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with a tanned creamy head. Retention is quite long and lacing all around glass is great. The aromas are of caramel and molasse with hop in the background. The taste starts bitter, but gets more bitter in the finish to come back down to the starting point in the aftertaste. Coffee and notes of nuts lingers also in the aftertaste. Nice and smooth. Also in the flavours is burnt wood, oranges and butterscotch. A very nice complex brew.

Purchased at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours a dark colour, almost black, with red highlights. The tanned head is creamy, big and has medium retention. Its lacing is quite good all around. Aromas are nutty, with molasses, grainy malts and hints of chocolate. Half-syrupy mouthfeel. The taste is quite good. Starts off sweet and ends mildly with bitterness. In there, I found light smoke, caramel, toffee, coffee, chocolate, strong liquor and dark fruits. Quite good, but a scotch ale, I wonder. A good mix between a stout and a strong Belgian ale.

Written 2005 on the label (rated August 2005 originally). This Imperial Stout pours a chocolat brown with a creamy head and red highlights. The retention and lacing are heavy. The aroma is of coffee and molasse with notes of chocolat. Rich, but also mild in a way. Wow ! What a nice kick. Chocolat start with a bitter finish. Long coffee aftertaste with chocolat coming back into it. Also, notes of dark fruit as the beer warms up a bit. The mouthfeel is milky and creamy. An awesome impy, and thanks to S8n for this one.
