Bouteille 341ml.

Location: Bottle at Paul's Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13
Aroma: The nose is a bit odd, the chocolate and roast are there too with the odd notes
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown-black color with a small head
Flavor: The flavor is malty, and a little sweet, but nice, with lots of chocolate and roast
Palate: The body was really nice, full, creamy, and smooth, highly drinkable, no alcohol burn
Overall Impression: I enjoyed this one. The nose was really odd, but the rest of the beer was quite enjoyable. The stand-out component was the feel, which was a borderline 4/5 for me.

Bouteille 341ml.

Opaque brown beer, residual tan head. Fairly neutral palate but low carbonation. Light smoke on the nose. Tangy dark malts well blended with smoke. A little fruit underneath. All right.

Opaque black beer. Dark chocolate head, very short lived. Gorgeous nose of chocolate and Port Wine, one of the nicest smelling beers I’ve had in yonks. Palate is light and a little dry. Unsweet chocolate with a trace of coffee. Strongy tangy raspberry and cherry blend perfectly with the chocolate and coffee. Finishes light and soft. This is a very tasty Impy for it’s relatively modest abv. Excellent nose, good palate, great taste!

Originally rated May 2006. Great idea, to create this beer and put the map of only the good beer stores of Quebec. I bought mine at the Dépanneur À-Tout-Prix in Laval, so it had the map how to get to that store on the label. I think this is my first old ale, after 600 reviews... about time ! Pours a hazy caramel-copper colour with a touch of orange and a nice creamy tanned head. Great retention and decent lace. The nose is very hoppy at first, but then caramel and nuts are revealed. Slight tarty mouthfeel, but quite refreshing. The taste is a good mix of toffee, hop, burnt wood and some nuts. Reminds me of a good IPA, with a bit more alcohol. Maybe a bit much hop for an old ale, but a great brew none the less.

Originally rated July 2006. This strong brew pours a cola brown colour with ruby highlights. There seems to be no carbonation. Tanned head is very small and goes away fast. The nose is beautiful with nuts and roasted malt aromas. Sticky mouthfeel, and flat because of the lack of carbonation. The taste is mild enough with some slight burn, dark fruit, caramel and nuts in the finish. A very nice brew, and good as a digestif (as written on the label).

341mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, pours black with a small brown head. Beautifully intense nose of slightly bitter dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malt, and burnt caramel. Flavour reveals much of this bitter dark chocolate, oatmeal, slight lactate quality (though not in any bad way), and with a vanilla and coffee-like finish. Mouthful is creamy, with the perfect amount of carbonation. Quite the treat, and again, thanks to Dany for the opportunity to try this.
