Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Wow, so unexpected from a brewer that isn’t very well known, but they do this one right. Black oily pour into the pint glass, tiny head that is gone in a flash. Almost an Imperial Stout aroma with the coffee and vanilla, but no alcohol burn, in fact this might be the smoothest dry stout I’ve had. Finish is wonderful.

Bottle: Pours bubbly, caramel-amber with a thick, beige head. Dusty blueberry and wheat scent. Taste is sweet, blueberry, bread, wheat malt. Not a big fan of blueberry, but this one’s not bad. Subtle....not overblown.

Bottle - Vintage old (1999?) - Smells like a tootsie roll, tons of cocoa, molasses and chocolaty goodness. Jet black with a thin brown head. Chocolate and as it smells exactly. Sweet and not sour at all, which is great considering its age. Love it, thanks to CapFlu.

Bottle shared by Jcwattsrugger. Pours orange gold with off white head. Nose and taste of faux blueberry, light spicy yeast, sugar cone and cotton candy. Lighter medium body.

Bottle thanks to Micheal! Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dark grains and roasted malts with a decent amount of dryness. Flavor has more sweet dark grains with roasted malts and just a hint of dryness in the finish.

12oz bottle. Amber brown body, looks filtered. Foamy, fading beige head. Pleasant caramel, light chocolate aroma. Smooth chocolate amber nut brown beer. Medium bodied, fresh and sessionable. Balanced by a nice crisp hop tone, but the finish is luscious, deep malt. Solid offering.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan. Fading soda-like head. Coconut-fruity aroma isn’t unpleasant, but isn’t a great beer aroma either. Ginger forward, but a decent enough of a malt base to ground it. Well done for a Ginger beer certainly, just not a beer you really want to revisit.

12oz bottle. Brown-amber-black body. Thin, oily head. Rich cocoa, chocolate tones. Some mild graham crack, vanilla. A pretty nice chocolate Porter. On the fuller side of medium bodied. Sort of heavy with the specialty malts, but fitting for the style I suppose. Tasty beer.
