Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

At a tasting, thanks zvikar, very dark brown to black, aroma of coffee, very dark bread, some woodiness and a touch of milk chocolate, dominant flavour of roasted coffee with some cherries, light bodied but quite balanced. Very nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks zvikar. Black, not opaque, with a light brown head. Nice roasty aroma with a bit of coffee and light dark chocolate notes. Pleasant bittersweet roasty flavor with some coffee. Medium-bodied.

On tap @ Top Hops. Well, it doesn't look like a blueberry beer this, it's light blurry and almost wood-caramel in color with a really nice big and lasting just off-white lacing top. The nose has not a good amount of blueberries to be honest. Soft caramel, a little bit of grains and wild flowers with heather and traces if frozen strawberries. Not extreme, fair. A bit more blueberries in the taste. It's on the sweet side yeah, and as mentioned the blueberries shines more through here. Lots of thin caramel, some soapy traces and a little bit of malty sweetness. Absolutely drinkable, actually I could most likely drink blots of this, but it's not a fantastic tasty or flavorful beer. 14.06.2013

Bomber (after climbing Beech Mountain with the family). Pours a deep brown with a large tan head of foam. Aromas are nice and stouty... Roasted malts, licorice, a bit of charcoal and a hint of cream. Flavor is similar, but a little thin lots of licorice and leather. I wish the mouthfeel was a little fuller, but this is a very nice stout.

The Gibson, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours a cloudy light orange with a small white head. Aroma is wheat and diluted ginger. Taste is wheat at the front, then a sort of weird spicy feeling reminiscent of ginger toward the back. This ain’t great by any means, but is drinkable and somewhat unique.

thot I had this, but no! from a bottle a little more gold than expected. smell is typical mild sterile wheat ale perfume. was expecting more bitterness than I get here, almost as refined as a wit bier. very good co2 makes it almost bubbly fruit. more astringent bitterness sets in during the session. yes, now we are approaching the wheat ale style I know. IMHO a little better than the typical wheat ale.

18.06.2013, tap @ Whole Foods Market NY:
Small shortlasting head. Aroma is fruity, artificial dark berries, hay, caramel, sugar, grass, cardboard. Taste is dry, artificial dark berries, hay, harsh grass, berry skin, wood. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Why do they even make this crap?!

22 oz. bottle from Hampton Falls Village Market for $4.99. Nice price! Aroma is sweet with molasses, and light smokiness. The flavor is mildly sweet caramel malt, light fruits, light peated malt, and a touch of smoke. This needs a bit more carbonation. Kind of a flat mouthfeel. Overall, decent scotch ale. I would drink this again.

Drought. Hazy yellow-gray appearance, beige spongy head, fruity aroma, sweetish spicy taste, slightly bitter long finish. Interesting taste reminded me of a bitter named TEA to me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mount Desert Island Ginger on 04 Jun 2013 at 10:52 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.
