Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

It pours a thick dark brown, and gives a nice foamy creamy head that leaves a decent lacing in rings. The head is small and dissipates within several seconds. The smell is the malts with just a tad of coffee backed up nicely by some toffee. The taste is the malts again with just a bit of the coffee and the toffee. The palate is about a light to medium on the watery side. Overall, I like this beer. It may not be one of the best \"browns,\" but I still like this beer.

It poured a dark orange/brown and yielding no head whatsoever into my chalice. Mild dark haziness showed throughout the body. No lacing occurred. The smell was sweet through the malts with some light plum coming through as the beer warms. The taste was the same with the previously noted flavors and settled through some odd bitter flavors that I can’t really quite right place. The alcohol came through in the taste as the beer warmed up. The palate was about a medium coating the tongue and mouth decently. No sharpness hits the tongue. I would say this was mildly drinkable. Overall, this is a good beer that I’d come back to.

It pours a dark brown and leaves a foamy off white head. Minimal lacing occurs and spider webs apart. The smell is roasty between coffee and chocolate notes. The taste.takes those flavorings to make it sweet. The palate is about a medium to heavy with nothing harsh on the tongue, slightly sof and creamy. Id say its fairly drinkable. Overall, this is a good standard American stout that I would gladly come back to.

It poured a straw color with a thick white head that quickly dissipated. There is just some hints of lacing down the glass. The aroma has some cooked corn to it, and then some floral notes with just a tad of maltiness to it. The flavor is sweet for the malt dominates. It was a very drinkable beer. The mouthfeel was about a medium. Overall, its good for its style, just mediocre to me.

3yr old bottle. Rare Vos tumbler. A milky brown slurry pour with barely a wisp of head. Smells of doughy malt, apples, & berries. Herbal honey & booze trailing. Taste is itchy/starchy barley wine upfront, quickly thinning out. Lighter then expected. Middle is slightly yeasty, but very fruity, with sharp cherry & murky prune-like notions. Butterscotch. Mild medicinal bitterness. The alcohol keeps in check & never flames up. Dry, toasty finish. Very mellow carbonation. Some oxidation on the tail end, but tolerable. Very decent, but hard to commit to.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy red-amber color, small head. Aroma of mature apples, a bit footy too. Sourish beer flavor with some honey; moderate sweetness, with some vegetables; quite evident alcohol too, boozy finish. Chaotic and not very pleasant.

Crisp light amber coloured copper body with a single centimetre tall slightly off-white head. Aroma of wheat, corn, light sugars and a touch of malt - not much going on here. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic and almost medicinal flavour with a lot of funk, a horribly bitter rice flavour and a slight bit of lemons. Aftertaste is nothing but bitter - funky, bad and stale malt with metal bitter, nothing pleasant at all. Overall, a pretty poor offering - not only does it not have much flavour, but the flavour it does have is horribly bad and bitter - nothing pleasant in this one at all. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 28-May-2012 for US$7.60/6pack sampled at home in Washington on 10-July-2012.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that left a touch of lacing. The aroma was dryish and roasty with notes of anise and coffee. The flavor was dry, bitter and roasty with sharp floral hops and coffee. Medium length dry and roasty finish with lingering coffee. Medium body though a bit thin for a stout. Eh.

Bottle. Body is a thin looking medium brown with a somewhat smallish head. Aromas are toffee and damp soil. Flavor has a more nutty edge that is decent, but not very complex. Finishes fairly sweet.
