Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

22 oz. bottle. This is easily Bar Harbor’s best brew! I had a few others which are very unimpressive. THIS BREW would be the exception. Dark brown with a thick, full, tan head that left good lacing. Roasty, aroma with a hint of chocolate covered coffee beans. Taste is coffee and chocolate dominating with roasted characteristics of each blended together very well. A nearly full to medium body. I drank this 22 oz bottle with ease and then I wanted more!

On draft @ Wood Grill Kitchen Kittery, ME. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roastiness with coffee. After letting my pint sit for about 10 minutes. I got, weak flavors of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Light bodied, for a porter, lightly carbonated. Not bad or real good. Very middle of the road.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Shop Rite - Hoboken, 2/24/11
Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, caramel, toast, earth, and some light smoke
Appearance: Cloudy copper-brown color with a smallish, bubbly, off-white head
Flavor: Malty flavors, some toast, caramel, and roast with slight steel notes in the finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it's watery and metallic on the mouth with average carbonation
Overall Impression: This wasn't particularly impressive. The pour is decent looking, the nose is alright, and even the front half of the palate isn't bad, but the finish is really the downfall of this one. The mouthfeel isn't really so great either. Overall, this one is pretty mediocre. Fairly forgettable. Color me unimpressed.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to skim surface leaving spot lacing. Sweet smoked caramel aromas. Soft with sweet, thick caramel upfront turning to smoked hickory before the lasting resin finish. Becomes cloying over time.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Off-white head with little retention recedes leaving no lacing to nothing. Bubblegum aromas. Dry and cloyingly sweet with sour fruit upfront turning to dusty wheat and chardoney in the lasting finish.

Clean brown with an off-white head. Lightly caramel, toasted aroma with a light earthy hop note. Thin body. Roasty toasty malts, caramel, light chocolate, some earthy hops. Easy drinking and it satisfies the brown ale desire. Good stuff.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Color is a nice copper tint with small white bubbly head. It left a nice lacing. Aroma is very malty with a wheat undertone. Taste upfront is malt with wheat hiding in the background. Mouthfeel is of medium body with slight carbonation that sizzles on your tongue. However in the finish you defiantly get the 9% ABV. It has a great flavor however the alcohol at the end overpowers the flavors. Would do best to age.

This is from a 12oz bottle contract brewed by D L Geary sample 6/23/2008 Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights when held to the light. Fluffy mocha head that laces the class on the way down. The nose is deep chocolate and coffee, nice deep roasty maltiness. Some fig and dried cherries in there too. Taste is creamy, velvety, chocolaty goodness. Slight alcohol bite and a little ash in the middle. Leaves a bitter roasted coffee in the aftertaste. Thick body with a silky mouthfeel and a medium dry finish. Just an excellent brew. I’ve had this several times and I just keep coming back for more.
