Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.

Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

Bottle. Almost black, thin brown edge head. Aroma of roasted coffee, toast, dark cocoa powder. Taste is coffee grounds, dark chocolate, malted milk balls. Very nice.

Bottled 12oz (NYC)
Dark opaque black color, midsized creamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, licorice and burnt bread. Medium-bodied. Lots of licorice, burned malty flavor. Lots of dark malts, less hops. Semi-sweet. Suprised to see so high points for this.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/28/11

Aroma: The nose is fairly light, some yeast, a little spice, some malts, and notes of smoke
Appearance: It pours a rather cloudy orange-brown color, with a beige head and streaky lace
Flavor: The taste is pretty much on the malty side, smoke is fairly subtle, and basically no bitterness
Palate: The body light-medium, with an average-to-soft carbonation, and it has a fairly short duration
Overall Impression: This beer was alright, but it wasn't what the label had lead me to believe that I would be getting, because the smoke was actually pretty reserved. Still though, the beer was rather drinkable, but it just didn't completely live up to my hopes.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear amber with a small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is a fruity malt and cereal. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt with chocolate. Easy to drink a good brown ale from Atlantic.

a very good, extremely easy to drink porter. Sometimes porters can be a little tough on the palate, either overly carbonated, a little too roasty like black coffee, and no hop balance, but this is the exact opposite. so smooth, not thick but not thin, nice roasty malt flavor with just a hint of hoppiness at the end. really good.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Starts strong and malty, quite dry, roasty. Some hints of coffee and chocolate. Finish again drier, not very drinkable. Not my favourite.

tap at Geddy’s in Bar Harbor - Pours auburn with an off white head. It smells of toffee accented malt. The flavor is sweet with a definite caramel/toffee taste. It’s light bodied and on the watery side, an okay but too bland brew.

tap - Pours amber with an aroma that’s all blueberries. It’s sweet with assertive blueberry flavor that’s obvious though not overwhelming. It’s a refreshing beer with some mild hops detectable in the finish. Decent.

Pours a slightly cloudy reddish orange amber color with a decent fluffy white head that has moderate retention. Smells of honey, sweet bready malt, caramel, butterscotch, slightly spicy with a hint of oxidation. It really screams English ale to me if that makes any kind of sense. Taste is malty and sweet. Lots of ripe fruit mixed with a honey bready thing. Slightly spicy most of the way through, but finishes with a twinge of alcohol and a lingering earthy bitterness. Medium to thick body, light carbonation, sweet almost sticky mouthfeel. I found this quite complex, but I feel the flavors are still competing, maybe this needs some time. Its good now, but I suspect it might be great with some age.
