Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.

Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

12oz bottle courtesy of Rob+Karen. Brown-black with some stained glass red edges. Not much of a head, this and oily beige. Sweet but mellow caramel chocolate aroma. My previous rating had stated this was a straightforward session Stout, but take that as testament to its drinkability. Big, roasty, full bodied.,,but retains an excellent balance.

Another big thanks to jcwattsrugger here, thanks John. Pours deep copper with off white head. The aroma is muted cherry, some mild malts and subtle – smooth dry bacon smokiness with pine hops and booziness around the edges. The taste offers up firm rauch malts and dry smoked bacon goodness. Behind the veil of smokiness are notes of sweet malts, pine hops and a sliver of sweet dark fruitiness. It leaves ample amounts of smoky rauch bacon into the after taste. Nice stuff that doesn’t over power with its smoke or barleywine essence.
