Description
The Atlantic Brewing Company began as Acadia Brewing in 1990. At first the brewery was located inside the Lompoc Cafe in downtown Bar Harbor and had a maximum capacity of just one barrel at a time. Within a few years the demand for our beers had grown so much that we moved the brewery two doors down from the restaurant and increased our capacity to seven-barrel batches. However, by 1998, we had outgrown that facility as well and so we moved again – this time to our current location on the Knox Road. Our estate brewery was built on the grounds of a 19th century Maine farmstead, that employs native vegetation and local stonework.
Atlantic Brewing Company has created a site to develop new and exciting small batch beers only seven barrels at a time. This pilot facility allows fellow brewers from around the state, country, and world to collaborate on unique recipes and formulations in a shared environment. These brews, together with Atlantic small batch beer, are offered in a tasting room setting. Flights, large pours, and growlers are available for purchase at the bar.

2005 vintage. 22oz bottle sampled at the DC Local tasting. Pours a transparent, copper amber with a thin, cloudy white head. Aroma is big on the flowers and honey with some butterscotch and booze. Flavor is nice, sweet, sticky fruits, honey, a little boozy, butterscotch. Still a little bit of heat on the end from the booze. Sweet and sticky on the finish too. Could probably go a few more years in the bottle.

courtesy of markwise pours brown, off-white head aroma, roasted, coffee malts, hints of mocha and chocolate. flavor, smooth and silky palate, plenty of dark malts, coffee roast, chocolate nibs, finishes with a very mild touch of bitterness. Easy drinker, load of good malty flavors. While the aroma is a bit on the weak side, the flavor makes up for it with a quaff of malt goodness.

good roasted feel. Good, solid coffee presence with a slight hint of fruit (dried?) maybe cherries or strawberries. Touch of bitterness

Color of dirty water. Very light ginger in the flavor and aroma, but a beer with very little flavor. Light palate, and it is hard to taste the ginger without a very big sip.

Nice super hazy copper coloured body with amber highlights and a non-existant head. Aroma of honey, yeast, curacao, alcohol and some nice oak. Full-bodied; Super strong alcohol and honey flavours with a lot going on in the centre - spices, oak, vanilla and some pine come out and end with a VERY alcoholic finish. Aftertaste shows the bitterness from some of the pit fruits and oak, but the alcohol is by far the largest taste that really warms the stomach. Overall, decent, but very strong and perhaps too alcoholic and oaky for me. I sampled this 65 cL bottle (overkill) purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 28-October-2009.

Good roasted malt flavor, but the palate is a little bit thin. Just a little coffee. Drinkable enough. A decent session beer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very thin slightly tan colour - not much movement on this one. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, caramel and a decent amount of metal. Medium-bodied; Very assertive metallic flavours tucked in with roasted nuts and malt and a bit of caramel. Aftertaste shows some mellow spices and some light caramel sweetness, but nothing too pleasant. Overall, too roasty and bitter with not enough of the pleasant tastes coming through. Definitely not one of my favourite beers from this style, which isn’t my favourite style. Courtesy of dkachur. Pours brown with copper edges and loose tan head. I couldn’t help but take a little slug of this from out of the bottle. First taste impression is yum yum yummy chocolate. A chocolate Porter? The aroma puts out a pleasing mix of chocolate, caramel with a bit of burnt malts and pine hops. This aroma reminds me of a very well aged Bigfoot. The taste is chocolate brownie with dark chocolate chips and with thin ribbons of caramel over the top. I also get a mild level of dark fruitiness that adds to the experience along with a bit of burnt malts around the outer rim of the tongue. I don’t know how this is a porter but the flavor is divine. Nice stuff!

Bottle. Pours a clear orange copper with a small creamy off white head that diminishes rather quickly leaving behind decent spotty lacing. The aroma is a strong blueberry and wheat. Medium mouthfeel with a fruity malt taste with blueberry and a nice sweet finish. Blueberry does not overpower and linger like most blueberry beers. Easy to drink, a good fruit beer from Atlantic Brewing.

Bottle thanks to porterhouse. Pours with a foamy, off-white head over a beautiful hazed, ruby body. Aroma of apricot, raisin, toffee, sherry and honey. Taste is malty with sherry, toffee, cinnamon, and honey. Dryish, sugars from the honey are fully fermented. Light bubbles and a thick, syrupy mouthfeel.
