500ml bottle at World of Beer, Tampa. Pitch black with a thin off white head. Aroma is charred grain, old coffee grounds and ash. Flavor is leaning on the licorice and charred malt and burnt barley spectrum. chocolate upfront and turns into tobacco leaves, charred barley and hints of licorice. Texture has a ashy texture inside a medium to fuller body. Chalky texture. No bottle daring so... Hard to know how long it sat in the cooler or if that even matters at all.

Light haze on this amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, semi sweet with a mild caramel streak. Good orange start to the hops, little hop spice. Some peel and marmalade. Pine and a whisper of lemon. Smooth semi dry finish. A balanced and flavoursome IPA but the Crystal malts won’t be to everyones taste.

Lighly hazy amber - red beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little airy, modest fine carbonation. Smooth and semi sweet malts, mild caramel and soft malt cream. A trace of well integrated apple sits under mellow Port Wine and ripe orange. Finishes with a little alcohol spice, really not too much. Flavoursome and drinkable.

Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and finely crisp. Light malts but with a good caramel streak and a touch of lactose. Hops are a nice of medium skunk, pine and a fair bit of hop spice. Finishes smooth and spicy, with spice lasting well into the aftertaste. Good hops but I can imagine the malts turning some off. Gazza wouldn’t like it!

Bottle shared late night in the hotel lobby during RBWG 2015. Pours Unclear gold with a creamy white head. Bready pale malts in the nose, pine needles, citrus rind. Medium sweet flavor, more pale bread, grain, pale citrus. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some rindy lemon, grainy pale malts. Interesting.

Earl of Essex. Keg. Mild haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Quite thin for the abv. Semi dry malts, some bitterish floralness. Tangy dried fruits. Light semi dry finish. For a DIPA this is pretty non descript, no thrust to what little hop there is. No off flavours though.
