Cask (handpump) @ The Crescent, Salford, Manchester, England M5.Light unclear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dusty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average and long duration. Bitternes is malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (290708)

Cask (handpump) @ The KIT (Kelham Island Tavern), Sheffield, Bedfordshire England S3 8GG.Clear light yellow orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, moderate hoppy, lemongrass, citrus, spicy, peppery. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet amd bitter with a average to long duration, and a lemon refreshing, and easy to drink. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (270708)

Cask, 4.5% at GBBF08. Almost black colour. Slightly roasted and then fruity flavour. Light body.

Devil-black, red-tinged body under a thin, but lasting beige head. Almost confectionary smell. Roasted malty aroma with cream chocolate leading towards coffee bitterness. Short tail (Hand-pulled cask at GBBF, 07.08.2008).

Cask, New Oxford, Salford. Dark orange colour. Thin off white head. Plenty of fruit and hop on show here in the aroma and flavour but laced with a nice spiciness which grabs your attention and lingers into the finish. Interesting and worth another look.

Cask at The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield, ’The Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire’ on the Valley of Beer Day 16-08-08 I never wrote down the colour of this beer so I will accept the commercial description of it being copper. One of my favourite beers of the day this came across as quite smokey, almost ash tray smokiness, this should I suppose be off putting but it wasn’t and I liked this real quirkiness about this beer. The smokey attributes remained throughout and combined with some lovely sweet citrus and great hoppy flavours, I really liked this beer and it ran very close to being my beer of the day.

Cask@GBBF2008. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is dark fruits, roasted malts, some mild chocolate and coffee. Flavour is a pleasant balance of the same, with the coffee having some mild sourness to it. also a bit of licorice in the flavour, which I didn’t find in the aroma.

Black with tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and coffee notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, coffee and mild liquerice notes.

Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 I had this on a few occasions over the course of the weekend and whilst it was fine I felt that this one was going to be better than it actually was. Poured light golden in colour with white frothy small head. This was tasty and refreshing and a decent session ale but it lacked the sort of bite and depth that I’d hoped for. There was a nice hoppiness at the end but maybe I was expecting more in this department, still it can’t really be faulted in the decent tasty session beer catergory and maybe I should just lower my expectations a little.
