This is not good. It’s very grainy. Bland. Minimal hops. Minimal flavor. It’s not completely repulsive, but why bother?

Look, I really like trader joe's for beer. The cheap price makes it easy for anybody to rate beers. This beer I have high hopes for. Got it a few weeks ago while visiting NC. It looks really good in my mug. Nice and dark with a great head. Has a decent malty nose on the olfactory. I think I paid about 70 cents for this bottle and it don't even have a twist off top? Come on, that is a sign of good beer, no? This stuff is pretty good, it almost meets the direction of yuegie's black and tan but never quite gets there. However, I definitely say its is a good example of american dark lager and I'm liking it. It also has a refreshing feel of co2, tah boot. At less than half the price of Yuengling black and tan or porter, it's really good stuff. Smooth dark american lager is something you can drink a few of without any ill effects. If I lived where I could get this, I would buy it all the time. Big thanks trader joe.

Bottle from TJ's in Davis, CA. Pours translucent pale gold with a white smear. Light pineapple/Jolly Rancher aroma. Not quite med body. Flavor rather matches the aroma, but it is much dryer than a JR candy. :) Not all that bad.

Kick ass bottle from trader joes on morrisville. Pour is darker yellow. Nose is a little volatile. A little better than the PLZNR but still has a little bit of that astringent phenolic feel to it. Yes, the alky content is prevalent and it is even a little rougher than your typical malt likker. Really cant appreciate this stuff as a red ale. Any maltiness in this is overridden by the astringent immature bite. Rude finish but at least there is a slight feeling of euphoria in the end after finishing the bottle.

84 cent bottle from trader joes in cary. Perhaps the slight nose of almost urine? Not sure. Pours pale yellow with a big white foamy head. Easy drinking for the most part but there is some astringent bitter bite in the background, almost phenolic. Yes, that phenolic bite really starts to build in the finish. A little nasty for a pilsner. Not the typical sharp bitter bite of pilz, mind you.

Heheh, got this from trader joes in cary. 80 cents! Clear pale, very little if any head. Some initial co2 on the uptake, could use more. On the nose there is a little bit of skunk grass, just a little. Decent unique lager taste, not sure if I like it or not but it does qualify as a cheap pale lager, fer sher my ratebeerin friends. YEs, for the price, its a decent lawn mower beer. I wish I had a trader joes near my hometown.

Clear bottle from trader joes cary. Popping the lid yields a slight cabbage nose. Clear pale. Taste is a little skunky too but not too bad. Rather light and refreshing, quite good for eighty cents. Good level of co2 within. This is a pretty good beer for a buck or less and its even in a bottle. A little bit of astringent bite hiding back there in the background. Fairly easy going if not civilized.

750mL bottle from Trader Joes, drunk fresh. Clear, deep golden with a large, white head that steadily fades to a ring. Spicy phenolics and tons of lightly acidic fruits with some clove and white pepper in there to keep it spicy. Malts layer on honey, biscuit and hints of caramel. Touch of alcohol, though not hot. Pretty standard Unibroue. In the mouth it's maltier than some of their beers, demonstrating not the champagne yeast-like attenuative dryness that some U beers end up with. Still plentiful pepper and spice with sticky caramel, hints of fig, plum and light berry. Malty texture, soft and supple with intense carbonation and good attenuation. Clean.

Bottle, best before 7/22/22, drunk 4/3/22. Clear, deep golden-copper with a quickly fizzling, white head. Nice, clean nose with strong mineral, hay, white grape and biscuit-cracker malts. Hmmm, that's odd. From the nose I had some hope, but this is oddly sour/astringent like an old cheese rind. Texture is round and forced carbonation leaves it fizzy and flabby. No real crispness, mostly just bitterness and dough on the finish. Off to the drain with you!

Found this in trader joes in bedford NH. Pinkish pale yellow and clear. Decent apple nose. Very good carbonation. Not bad initially, pleasantly mild with just a tad of that processed feel to it. In the middle the ABV starts to show itself. Yes, at first I didn't think I was going to like this but it turned out OK. Getting a little bit of earth on the finish.
