Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Bottle at share. Near black pour with small beige head. Aroma is roasty, boozy and nutty. Taste brings sweetness, chocolate, plus a hefty helping of booze. Strong, sweet with some dessert qualities.

500ml bottle, 2025 vintage. Boozy cherry aroma with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, orange, cognac, caramel, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Pours deep brown with a thin mocha brown head that has little retention and lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, cognac and orange flavors as well as having a rich, full body and silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with cherries, vanilla, bourbon and oak flavors. Excellent variant using the cherries well and nice warming booze at the end.

Nice overall. Rich, fairly sweet, could be fuller in body, a nip of cinnamon maybe, subtle roast. Ripe banana in the aftertaste. Chocolate accents. Very enjoyable.

Tasting at CBJ, thanks to me. Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head, doesn't last. Airy smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation, fine for this style. Airy dark malts, good chocolate streak. Lovely ripe banana streak, touch of banana liqueur. Airy finish. Nicely done. Easily overdone but not here, tres drinkable.

Opaque colour not much head. Roasted, cinnamon spicey aroma with hints of banana. Full-bodied. Quite xmas spicey version. Some bourbon, cinnamon, ginger?, banana. Interesting, warming, but a bit too gimmicky version.

500 ml bottle. Pours an opaque black/brown with a minimal head that quickly vanishes. The aroma is medium in strength with soft bourbon and sweet pralines. The taste is dominated by caramel, toffee, praline, cashew, walnut and whatever. The palate is full and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long and sweet with lingering caramel. Overall: Nice--well made fer sure--but way to sweet for anything but a very small glass. Missing any real complexity and bitterness. I just did not care for this as much as I like nutty beers. Paired it with some Reggiano to cut the sweetness.
