33 cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring - bought on September 5th 2013. An interesting concept this - as there’s no batch number or best before date on the bottle, and the information on the website isn’t very well structured, it’s not possible to get a definitive list of the hops included in this bottle, but it’s immediately obvious on tasting that Cascade plays a major part in the this particular bottle.
It’s a bright amber pour with a thin white head; the aroma has some tropical fruit, but a deep underlying pineyness (new word??) ; the hops are ceratinly fresh and explode in the mouth with more fruit and lots of birch twigs giving a dry, raw edge. An impressive pale ale!

750ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Salty, smoky, roasty dark malty aroma. Taste is initially smoky, salty, dark malty with subtle sweetness, later with more dry and roasty notes, in the finish minimally chalky with hints of burnt coffee, dark chocolate with ultimate cocoa percentage, some grassy hop.

Bottle @ Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig ’13. Pours a dark amber brown color with a longlasting off-white head. Has a roasted malty spicy caramel aroma. Roasted malty spicy caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel and spicy dark fruit finish.

33cl bottle from Beerhive. Appearance - amber with haze and a small but attractive head. Nose - malt and green peppercorn Taste - mango, papaya and into mandarins. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly elegant finish. Overall - really interesting and well made beer.

Opaque black - brown beer with a small tan head. Smooth palate, slightly viscous and semi dry. Creamy dark malt. The coffee has a strong presence here but is pleasantly mellow in flavour. Smooth finish. Not that complex but easy drinking for it’s abv.

Deep chestnut with a large cream head; caramel aroma; immediate hoppy taste - fresh, leafy, woody hops, with some citrus highlights; and a long lasting fresh hoppy finish with some underlying caramel. Rather one-dimensional, but this does exactly what it says on the bottle.

Pours clear golden orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma of fresh grassy hops, zesty fruits, orange peel and grapefruit. Taste is crisp, malty and zesty with hints of herbal and fruity notes, grapefruit, lemon, orange peel and spices. Finish is juicy, zesty fruity and hoppy with hints of vegetables. Okay, quite juicy and herbal IPA that is just a tad unbalanced, but still quite refreshing and tasty.

Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Mahogany coloured pour with a beige head. Raisin, lots of sweet spice and blackberry aroma. Has a spirit like quality. Flavours of caramel, sweet spice and a little coconut. Quite vinous. Sweet malt finish.

Draught at Brewdog, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, small head. Citris nose with red currant and limoncello. Mid sweet with clean mouthfeel and medium body. Richly hoppy with lots of citrus and tropical fruit. Basic, clean malt character and heavy carbonation takes the focus away from the hops. Really bitter finish. Superficial.
