Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.
Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.
From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.
Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

Aroma of malt, peppery yeast, spicy notes, grassy hops. Flavour is nicely bitter. Not sure what this is supposed to be, overall it’s a simple and pleasant bitter Ale with some Belgian characteristics.

Bottle at home. Aroma of citrus, orange, tropical fruits, floral notes, malt, biscuit, some pine resin, a herbal note, hops. Flavour is light sweet with a long bitter finish. Body is medium. Fairly complex and tasty, with a herbal piney floral orange hoppy character. Good.

Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is pale malt, biscuit, herbal-ish hops, fruity notes, grass, mild citrus. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter with some mild tartness. Body is medium. Not as fruity hoppy as I expected, has more of a herbal hop taste with grassy and fruity notes. Pretty tasty.

Bottle from Sterk Amsterdam. Hoppy and malty aroma with orange, citrus peel, nicely hopped with sweetish fruit, mild caramel. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter with a medium body. I don't get any farmhouse notes but as a Red IPA this works.

From tap at Mout fest Arnhem 2018. Aroma is floral with sweetish malt, some caramel, not very fruity. Modest floral hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Pleasant as a beer, but far from a hop-bomb IPA.
