Description
Welcome to the Falstaff Pub and Brewery

We are a Derby micro-brewery selling our beers throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. We have a stable of six regular brews and each month we brew specials that change in style and strength.

The Falstaff pub is a traditional real ale house. We have up to 6 hand-pulls serving real ale, generally our own brews with the occasional guest ale. We serve draught lagers, ciders and Guinness with a selection of spirits, wines and soft drinks available.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Golden and clear with a thin ring of white head and lots of lacing. Pleasant little aroma, with lemon balm and some appley hops. Taste is sweet and quite astringent with a good dollop of sulfur. Thetes more bitterness in the finish, but the astringency sits on the tongue in the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Not bad but not my kind of beer.

Handpull cask at the Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Dark brown, translucent with a thin ring of cream-khaki head. Translucent. Little aroma, but what's there is quite good. Malt, roast chocolate, touches of coffee and ash. Sweet taste with a bit of a papery dry feel mid-sip and a light souring note in the finish. Thin body, but it's a mild. Simple and by-the-books but very enjoyable.

Cask at Wye Bridge House (JDW), Buxton. Deep purpley brown with a thick beige head. Tastes of mellow chocolate malt and mild blackcurrant. Ok mild despite ’Spoons having served it in distinctly sub-par condition. Shame on you ’Spoons, but fair play to Falstaff nevertheless.

Oldham Beer Festival 2017. Black-brown and overly sweet for a mild, but it’s higher than usual strength for this style accounts for this.
