Pours amber with a large head.Nose shows sweet bready malt, spicy hops, toffee and grassy notes. Some sweet caramel and malt as a flavour but with a metallic note too. Some spicy hops followed by a plain and overly sharp bitterness in the finish.Carbonation is over the top.

Well, I am confused. This beer was definitely "Ashes Two Mashes", not "Ashes To Mashes" but I thought it was from Edge Brewing. (Hand pump at The Royston) Hazy dark chocolate brown with good tan head. Little aroma, but reminded me of porridge. Soft creamy texture - very unusual - sort of like a latte, but cold. Amazing taste - coffee, chocolate and hazelnut. Some nicely source and bitter notes in finish. Overall, very unusual - wouldn’t drink it all the time. Works very well. Oddly it says "breakfast beer" to me.

It’s the new world hops that give this beer its pleasant bitterness, and the sweet malts are not bad either, both on the tongue and in the nose. A nice sessionable ale. Squealer from Prince Wine Store Essendon.

Bottle. Amber with an inch of white head that lasts well. Odd aroma of spiced orange zest, hay, grass. Depth charge-like booziness is unintegrated but doesn’t quite overwhelm oranges, peach, pine. Woody and boozy with some bitterness at the end. Didn’t really see the point of this one.

Bottle. Golden amber with a white head. Aroma is earthy and peachy with some grapefruit and bitter orange. Light-bodied, lowish carbonation. Light spicy bread, much more citrus than suggested in the aroma. Bitterness is moderate but prominent in the dry finish. Solid refreshment.

Bottle. Golden amber with a large white head that laces well. Aroma of caramel, passionfruit, kumquats, nectarines. Light to medium bodied. Sweet caramel melds well with tropical fruit and tenor register citrus. Finish is brief with modest bitterness. Not gripping, but clean and fairly hoppy. Pleasant.

Pours black with a small fading head.Nose shows hazelnut liqueur, cocoa, chocolate essence and roasted malt.Similar bittersweet flavours, with a prominent nutty note amongst cocoa, almost and roasted malt.Carbonation seems a bit excessive.

Bottle. Dark brown with a light tan head that lasts OK. Roasty aroma with coffee, nuts and a spicy earthiness that’s evidently the wattleseed. Quite silky, a little thinner than I’d have guessed. Taste is slightly cola nut sweet with coffee, moderate roasted flavours, lingering earthy and nuttiness. Pleasant, quite interesting.
