Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phrom Phong, Bangkok. Poured a clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, big yuzu, light lemon lime, floral citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, crisp, herbal, juicy yuzu, dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A great beer if you appreciate Yuzu!

Can. Black with a tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma of coffee and singed sugars - sweet and stuffy. Quite firm roast and quite firm bitterness accompany the coffee and singed dark sugars but it’s an oddly vague palate - or at least it didn’t cohere for me. [edit] As it warms a bit more ~14C it comes together a bit more but the sweetness is too much.

Open mouth can. Black. No head. Ashtray nose. Burnt malts. Coffee and smokiness that is very much at the ashy end rather than the bacon variety. Works better than it should.

Aromas of caramel, pine, toast, lemon and tropical fruit. That tropical-bitter combo goes beautifully in the mouth, together with loads of toast. The 7.2% eaves a hot streak down the throat. Very lovely.

From a 330ml can on 11/4/2019. Pours a hazy golden with a big head. The nose is almost all mango which is no surprise. The flavour is dominated by mango, but the sweetness is almost overwhelmed by a very sharp, bordering on astringent, bitterness. The texture is slick and the carbonation moderate. The 10.1% ABV doesn't really surprise. Overall, it's a bit of a mixed bag for mine. It's not too far away from succeeding, but it's a touch too rough and over the top to really impress.

On tap. Hazy orange (like mango puree). Enormous mango nose. Not as sweet as you'd expect. Lot of hop astringency playing off against the fruit. Scarily easy to drink given abv.

From a 330ml bottle on 6/3/2019. Pours not far off black with pretty much no head. Has quite a strong nose with chocolate notes and heaps of whisky. Taste wise, there's a big chocolate sweetness up front, along with hints of coffee, dark fruit and spice. This is met by a sharp, roasty bitterness and a big whisky booziness. A bit thin texture wise, particularly given it's size, and slightly under-carbed. Not a complete disaster, but a bit unbalanced, overly boozy and has enough flaws to make the drinking experience disappointing.

Can. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has straw and hay notes with a bit of sweetness underlying. Flavor is similar with a combination of sweet grains, hay, straw and a bit of bread.

It's got a definite white wine aroma with notes of funk and orange. Nice sour palate. Best drinked at quite a warm temperature.

From can. Opaque dark amber. Biscuit nose. Full bodied. Toasty caramel malt flavour and some pine notes. Big but balanced.
