Can. Clear deep red with a large off white head. Aroma is restrained but has orange peel, caramel, bread, biscuit. Full bodied and malty but (again) somehow not that sweet even though some stewed and dried fruit join. Bitterness is firm and a little spicy. The structure of it is a double edged sword - it never seems blousy or boozy but then again it never quite charms. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hannibal Imperial Red Lager on 05 Jan 2019 at 12:36 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. From open mouth can. Pours black with thick cream head. Big burnt malt nose with boozy tones. Luscious oily mouthfeel. Action-packed flavour wise. The hops try and keep with the charcoal malts. A killer of a beer. Rapt I've cellared a trio.

'Bottle. Black, no head save a small island of brown bubbles. Aroma of dark chocolate, whisky, coffee, caramel. just shy of syrupy. Very low carbonation. Too low but not a lot too low for me. Bitterness comes from chocolate, roast, wood and coffee, and it''s as though the sweetness is taming it rather than the other way around. The whisky flavours are prominent but fit well with the stout. Good, interesting, unusual.' --- Beer merged from original tick of Whisky B.A imperial stout on 18 Dec 2018 at 12:36 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Can. Opaque amber with an off white head that fades fast. Aroma of caramel biscuit and prunes, some orange peel and spices. 6 Lightish bodied and both cleaner and less sweet than the aroma suggested. I guess the dark fruit seems more dried than stewed - which is good for this sort of thing - and the finish is spicy, dryish and moderately bitter. Doesn't seem to offer enough to justify it being quite so strong, but it's OK, I suppose, if you are tense and nervous and you can't relax. --- Beer merged from original tick of Psycho Killer on 23 May 2018 at 12:34 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Can. Very pale gold with a inch of white head that lasts OK. Aroma of crackers, honeydew melon, Meyer lemon, citrus blossoms. Some light herbal notes. Light bodied, lots of bubbles. Dryish with lean crackery malt. As much floral and spicy as fruity with modest bitterness that is nonetheless enough. Good. Edge should look up complemented vs complimented sometime, though. --- Beer merged from original tick of Toast Multigrain Pilsner on 02 May 2018 at 12:49 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5. Can. Hazy orange with a brief white head. 3- Aroma is lacto-funky with pretty well integrated fruit notes of overripe berries, rockmelon and apple. 6+ Pretty watery. Lightly flavoured with vague fruit and light sourness before a slightly twiggy dry finish. It's refreshing but there's not much to it. --- Beer merged from original tick of Fruit Salad Sour Ale on 27 Apr 2018 at 11:20 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5.5. Bottle. Gold, head fizzes away instantly. A: sourdough, red gum in full blossom, old lemons. Slippery, kefir-like texture. Very low carbonation. Moody fruit and dough with honey and lemon acidity that's mellow but persistent. Involving and has plenty of presence for something well under 5%. Good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brae on 25 Feb 2018 at 11:44 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Bottle.
