Dark brown with no head. Some chocolate and pumpkin on the nose. Toasty-chocolatey taste with some late pumpkin. A bit watery, especially towards the finish.

Pours bright mahogany into a stem glass. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Raisin and molasses aromas. Light bodied and malty with sweet caramel upfront and a slight bitter finish.

Re-rate 1/15: Can sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Amit.. Clear deep gold. Aroma of dank "green" hops, somewhat fruity, and a bit of malt. Flavor has sweet malt, a bit caramelly, fruity and very "green" leafy hops and nice bitterness. Medium-bodied. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Deep orange-tinted amber coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of fresh citrus and pieny hops with a blast of caramel and lemons in the nose too. Medium-bodied; Nice full taste of Pacific Northwest hops in the taste, fading to pine and a pleasant bitterness. Aftertaste shows a little bit of sugars, but mainly the hops come out and stay nicely. Overall, a suprisingly decent IPA - worth sampling at least! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 15 July 2006 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 11/10/2008. Dark black body wtih ruby highlights. Slightly sour roast and chocolate aroma with slight pumpkin and spice. Slightly sour roast and spice flavor. Medium body wtih moderate carbonation and a fairly creamy mouthfeel.

Mild pumpkin aroma and flavor. Some nutmeg, just a little cinnamon. Black color and a roasted malt flavor, that hides the pumpkin more than anything else. Maybe it is past its prime now, in January.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of spices as well as medium notes of something burnt and pumpkin. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of spices and roasted malt, medium notes of pumpkin, and light notes of cinnamon. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

I feel it is a bit deceiving for a brewer whose flagship beer is a lager to make an "ale" that is actually a Kölsch. Pours a bit flat looking actually, with just a small head, and a dark, dull golden, completely clear color. Just does not look all that interesting. Aroma is syrupy straw, slightly spoiled fruitiness and a bit gaseous (can I describe a spell as being gaseous). Taste is a bit like cold Lipton tea with sugar and crackers. Its got that cheek drying mouthfeel that cold tea can sometimes give you. Yeah, its not as bad as this score indicates but I wont be paying for this again. 12oz bottle, Melbourne Bros glass.

Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm, 4 Dec 2008. Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with chocolate, toffee, pine needles and citrus. Fruity, malty taste with notes of toffee, citrus, pine needles, caramel and hints of chocolate. Medium body. Nice balance between the caramelly, chocolatey malt and the citrussy, piney hops. Good beer.
