Description
The Gueuzerie Tilquin began operations in February 2009. It was 12 years that a new gueuze-producer had emerged in Brabant (the previous was Geuzestekerij De Cam in Gooik, which began in 1997).

The Gueuzerie Tilquin is the first gueuze blendery in Wallonia. The company is located in Bierghes (Rebecq), 200 meters from the linguistic border, and is directed by Pierre Tilquin. Pierre is bio-engineer and holder of a PhD in statistical genetics. He then followed an intensive course in brewing science in Leuven, and he had his experience at the brewery Huyghe (Melle), 3 Fonteinen (Beersel) and Cantillon (Anderlecht).

[9/24/11] Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim ’11 tour. Bottle at Akkurat in Stockholm. 2010-2011 bottle. Hazy orange color with a big white head. Funky brett aroma with some citrus, a bit of leather and vinegar notes. Very sour prickly flavor with lemon and some barnyard. Medium-bodied, leaves a dry mouth. A tasty Gueuze.

draft@Delirium: hazy amber/caramel with basically no head, taste is acidic, musty, barnyard funk, sour, tart, lemon acid at first with the Girardin lambic dominating, sharp, bit odd lambic which appears to be a bit to young to have gained any dept followed by an aftertaste which is caramel, brown sugar & touch of fruits (melon, papaya,…), the base seems to lack some dept and sophistication, they might benefit from older lambic or maybe even trying a bit different blend but it is still interesting as it stands now

Pours gold into a tumbler. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Aspirin, grapefruit and sour funk aromas. Dry with sour grapefruit front to back and throught the lasting tart finish. Nice.

Bottle. I really like gueuze when its as young and fresh as this one! I get a lot of really sour pear notes. There is some fruit-like sweetness in the background. Dry finish with a woody aftertaste.

24/09/2011 Open Baladin Roma (tap). Dorata, lievemente torbida, poca schiuma biancastra, morbida e poco persistente.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ. Pours with a lightly hazed golden body and a fluffy white head that is slow to fade. Aromas are floral, musty, honey, white wine, oak, estery, lacto, funky brett, lemony acidity, grape like. Rich funk profile overall. Flavors are richly complex, white wine grapes, dried apricot. Noticeable malt character for a Gueuze (bready and grainy). Acid is a bit more restrained than the bottled version. Good funk, brett, floral, honeysuckle. Lively bubbles, light bodied, dry. Nice!
