Description
In 2012, The Harbour Brewing Co. was just a fledgling idea: to brew proper beer reflecting the land (and shores) from where it came. Taking the best raw ingredients - awesome hops, Cornish spring water tapped straight from the source - and bringing them to life through dedication to technique. The concept evolved by the ocean - hence, 'Harbour' - but the beer came into being on the farm. There is joy in returning to the roots of the ingredients. And the heritage of the space, of the land, of the ocean, remain our inspiration. Everything clicks; the farm is Harbour's home.

Bottle at home 24th march 2013. On open this smells too sweet, pours clear. Taste is too sweet, not enough carbonation and no bitter balance, not a good IPA, there is a metallic taste also. I managed to drink it easily though, does not seem 7 %

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours brown with a tight, tan cream head. Lots of ashy roast in the nose, some milk chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with strong milk chocolate character, good dry roast, mellow earth and burnt leaves, toast. Light to medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish with lightly dry and roasty malts, rich chocolate, faint charred leather, light earthy bitterness. Solid.

Bottle from Connolly’s Wines, Solihull. The aroma is smoky and peaty. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with lots of liqourice and some dark chocolate. I’d have preferred a richer more flavourful porter, but it was still highly drinkable.

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Clear dark brown pour with a meek tan head. Sweet chocolate and a little roast in the nose. Similar flavour., with notes of dark fruit and a little bitterness. Quite lively carbonation. A bit thin. Drinkable but not quite the win.

Aroma: Dry, dusty hop aroma. Caramel, toffee and orange.

Appearance: Deep amber, clear body. No head, no carbonation, no lacing. This is one ugly beer...

Taste: A bit on the harsh side. No hop bitterness, in fact it’s quite sweet for a DIPA - caramel and toffee. Quite boozy.

Palate: Thin body with an oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: This bottle showcased the Nugget hop. Unfortunately, it’s easily the worst beer I’ve had from the usually excellent Harbour - flat, dull and overly sweet.

On gravity at the winter beer festival, the Three Tuns, Bristol 23/2/2013. Slightly hazy amber with a decent, off-white head. Big, slightly earthy grains, some citrus fruit and a spicy, dryish finish. Fine.

Bottle at home in London. Pours a very clear brown with a fine, foamy beige head. Aroma holds dry, toasted brown bread, some chalky cocoa, hints of tangy earth. Light sweet flavor with hints of tangy, semi-dark malts, a bit of cocoa, earth, light ash, burnt wood. Light to medium bodied with soft, fine carbonation. Light sweet finish, more toasty bread, some mellow earthy bitterness, dirt, baking cocoa. There’s some good character here, but the body is a bit thin. I actually have a tough time believing this beer is 6.8%. But the lack of oomph does make it pretty easy drinking.
