Monday 2nd Nov 2020: Monthly Beer Share at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Four hardy souls and plenty of variety, some good snacks too! Cheers Mat for the .75 litre bottle of the 2015 version. Moody dark look, huge tanned head on each glass. Malty with dark fruits, sour-semi sweet, brett, bitter. Different and thought provoking.

75cl bottle @ Last Beer Tasting Before Lockdown 2.0, Chez Sophie, Nov 20. Bought by me at Thiriez Brewery, Esquelbecq. Pours a deep hazed brown, light brown bubbles atop. Aroma suggests brett involvement, soy sauce, dark malt. Taste presents woody, malty bark alongside some lovely sweet swirls that suggest some wild organisms have crept in, such as brett. Nice dark malt flourishes. Soy sauce. Interesting but likeable.

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostaker, nr Gent, Belgium and shared with friends Saturday 18th January 2020. Lively pour, large light cappuccino head, dirty brown in colour. There is a light sourness, oaky, tangy. Loz gets smoke. Nice mouthfeel, soft carbonation, good.

Bottle, thanks Loz&Fin! Light smoked wood and berry nose, dark brown, offwhite head. Medium light body, low carbonation. Roast and chocolate, Mon Cheri, light roast nuts, dark sugar, a bit simple but quite good drinkability

75cl bottle from Brasserie Thiriez in Esquelbecq. Pours misty straw gold, large frothy white head. Aroma presents gentle yeast, lightly sweet, some soft grain. Taste is extremely light, grisette style with a great summer's afternoon drinkability, pillowy soft yeast, some floral lemon citrus hints. Lovely stuff.

330ml bottle from the brewery in Esquelbecq. Pours misty golden yellow, large frothy head. Good yeasty nose, fresh, vibrant, vanilla hints. Excellent saison character, typically Thiriez, fresh vibrant yeasty character. Pepper not exactly jumping out, and if it wasn't for the name I wouldn't search or find it, but there is some very distant peppery spice I suppose. Can't say it's particularly welcome unless paired with appropriate food. Great stuff all the same.
