Clear brown, slight white head. No distinctive aroma, perhaps seaweed. Light body and carbonation. Flavour is light and well balanced - malt, fruit, spice with some bitterness in the finish. Good easy drinking quaffing beer, perhaps a bit thin.

Bottle. Sweet toffee malt and orange/pine hops aroma. Clear amber color with small head. Sweet toffee malt and strong bitter pine, grapefruit peel, and quinine hops flavor. Balance a bit off and finishes a bit rough.

Pours a clear amber-orange colour with an off-white head that starts off creamy, but becomes foamy. Decent lacing appears all-around and carbonation is steady with bubbles of all sizes. A different thing happens with this one, as bubbles form on the side of the glass, all over. And they just stay there, disappearing very slowly, one by one. A big caramel smell is present at first. After breathing a bit, the sweet aroma fades away to show a rusty nose and some hoppiness. Mild notes of flowers and nuts too. Medium-thin bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, almost watery, but not quite. Taste of caramel and hop, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. A very easy drinking ESB.

Cask in some pub, Cambridge, England. Dark orange color with small white head. Malt aroma with light floral hints Taste, was flat, hints of hops, fruit. Bad beer.

Pours amber with a small creamy head.Nose shows heavy skunk before giving way to some caramel and toffee. Also some floral hops hidden in there.Very similar flavours in the way of malt along with some cookie dough. Finishes weakly, almost bland.Nice creamy carbonation, very low though.

Cask at the Bird in Hand, Wordsley. Pours dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is faint, fruity malt. Some pithy orange to start with a fruity and orange low bitter finish.

Bottle from Tesco, Bidston. This is a brewery I tend to steer clear of having been sorely let down in the past by their offerings, but the commercial description aroused my interest and I was more than willing to have my preconceptions and doubts crushed. Copper coloured pour with a fast fading whitish head. Sweet toffee mingled with some rather muted hop in the nose, which was pretty underwhelming and sowed the seeds of doubt. Flavour lacked any real balance or cohesion. The hop bitterness was there, but not shining as it should in a decent ipa. Alcohol pretty brazen. Really not that special, and I could make a decidedly un-pc comment along those lines to sum up, but I won’t.

Cask at the Bird in Hand, Wordsley. Pours dark amber with a medium head. Aroma was faint grassy hops and some slightly fruity malt. Had a bland start and then some watery hops on the finish. OK for its strength.

[Cask at William Robert Loosley (JDW), High Wycombe] Deep amber, slight off-white head. Typical GK caramel overlaid with rich fruits (marmalade?) and a very mild dusty hop bitterness in the background. Very smooth, meaning that you inadvertently drink it dangerously fast! Definitely a pudding beer - it’s very sweet, and too much so by the end. I had a pint, and would have been happier with a half.

Can. I wouldn’t say this stuff is bad exactly, but it certainly is boring, and definitely not an IPA. Pours clear amber with a small white head. Malty aroma with some earthy hops. Flavor is sweet with muddled fruits and malts, augmented by a curious bitterness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes lightly hoppy and sweet. Drinkable.
