500ml bottle-pours a big tan head and deep red color. Aroma is wood, fruit-tart cherry, medium malt, some spice hops. Taste is confusing. Fruit-tart cherry/vinegar, medium malt-toffee/chocolate, wood, some herb hops, some roasty. Cask-like bock. The sharp/vinegar character is a detractor that I just couldn’t get around. Thanks to deepsouth for trade with Joe-jwc215 and me.

Cask at the Samuel Peto (JDW), Folkestone. Port red in colour with a thin off-white head; lots of red fruit aroma; a little fruit flavour to start then dry caramel, biscuit and coffee takes over leading to a dry finish.

Bottle. A clear, golden beer with a finger-thick off-white head. Malty and fruit nose with some roasted, biscuity notes. Sweet, malty and biscuity flavor, quite fruity, and with a fine bitterness. Medium to full body and nicely carbonated. Dry, fruity, decently bitter finish. An easy drinkable beer in the British style, but nothing special about it. (090328)

Cask@Beer Hunters. Clear amber color, steady off-white head. Metallic, English hoppy nose. A bit thin mouthfeel - but this is of course only 3.6 % ... nutty hoppy. Light bitterish bite, nutty hops. Lacks on the malt side. Boring but not as hopeless as 2.47 on RB indicates.

440ml can from Westchester Liquors. Classic nitro can pour with the millions of microscopic bubbles slowly rising in a layer from the bottom of the glass as the beer clears as they pass. Copper with a big, lasts almost as long as it takes to drink the beer, glass caking (not lacing) ivory head. Nose of caramel, molasses, and light flowery hops. Flavor is very creamy with caramel, and toffee, with some light bitterness in the finish.
