Bottle: clear, amber coloured, small foamy layer; moderate fruity-malty nose with a distinctive touch of herbal (sage !) hops; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour,; sweetish (toasted-) malty finish with a touch of herbal bitterness, again. Not bad, but rather unexciting......

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Deep gold in colour, with a rich, earthy, hoppy aroma; toasty, spicy and warming in the mouth with an intensely bitter finish.

Pale amber with a low head. Citrusy hop aroma against a cookie-like malt background with notes of toffee and oranges. Medium bodied with a long hoppy bitterness. Considering it came in a clear bottle and was three and a half month past best-before-date it was surprisingly good.

light amber with a bitter hoppyness, a perfectly drinkable pint but uninspired --- Beer merged from original tick of Abbot Reserve (Cask) on 27 Mar 2008 at 14:59 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 3 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 4. Original review text: JWD ... Copper colour ... sweet caramel malt ... very sweet caramel malts but over powered bitter ... some grassy hop in linger

Casked. Dark amberish brown colour, small white head, which lasts for a good while. Malts and some grass in aroma. Flavour is a bit better with some bitterish notes added to the malts and grass. A rather thin beer.

Cask at hr. firtal, Odense; Clear amber brown with off white creamy head. Fruits & malts - caramel. Easy sweet with a dry hoppy finish! Better than the can/bottle version!

This Ale pours adark orange colour with a off white head. To the nose it is slightly peppery with a little citrus. Very orange scented. First taste is thin but hoppy. Quite bitter taste. Almost acidic. Plate is floral with lingering bitterness.

500ml can. Look this was on the bargain shelf of Sainsbury’s as a single can ok? I couldn’t not buy it could I? Crystal clear copper colour with lasting off white head. GK yeast and nuttiness on aroma. Bit of earthy hop and caramel. More thin caramel in mouth. Some hop on end, but mostly the beer has this thin caramel flavour. It’s not horrible, but nor is it interesting, with only a vague hop presence. Bit thin and watery.

Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel color with a large yellow-tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty though somewhat faint. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth. The flavor was light sweet and nutty malts with a vague hint of fruity hops and a lightly bitter finish.
