Bottle: Poured a dark burgundy color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of semi-sweet malt with some light oak. Taste is a mix between some sweet caramelized malt with some very subtle notes of oak and fruit. Body is way too light and carbonation is low which is to be expected of. I have to admit that this one was a bit deceiving and definitely lacking in complexity.

This ale poured a black colour with a nice foamy tan head. To the nose there was licorice, citrus and a slight hint of roasted malt. The first sip was really smooth smooth and roasty flavoured with other flavours of coffee and a little wine. The palate is of more roasty malt flavour with a lingering bitterness.

Cask Conditioned at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö
Beautiful amber color; frothy head. Delicate aroma, earthy hops. Very light body (too much, indeed), a bit metallic flavor, but also some light malt, some dry toffee and a reasonable hopping. Would be ok if not so weak.

Pours a lustrous mahogany colour with a caramel head which is fairly long lasting. The aroma is complex and hard to pin down, but I seemed to pick up vanilla and coffee as well as caramel. the taste is equally complex, with both sweet and dry components, and more coffee, leading to smoky dry aftertaste. Definitely a beer to drink slowly and savour. (9-Dec-2006 7/3/7/4/16=3.7)
Relaunched 330ml bottle from Tesco, Camberley as a craft beer. A rich chestnut pour with thick caramel coloured head; still with a touch of oaky vanilla to the predominantly caramel aroma; rich toffee taste that swirls around in the mouth, with underlying fruit cake; and a dry raisiny finish, that calls out for another sip. Just as good as when I first tried it - this shows what GK can do on a good day. (21-Feb-2014 7/4/7/4/16=3.8)

Cask. handpump at the Crown Charlton-on-Otmoor, 10-11-06. Poured dark brown with a head that didn’t hang about for too long, malty beer with some sweetness and a nice touch of fruitiness. Better than many of theirs but not one that I would particularly like a night on.

Extremely hazy amber color, very creamy flavors, though beyond that there isn’t much to this beer. I’d say it’s relatively good, but nothing spectacular.

75cl bottle: Golden colour, white head fades quickly leaving a lightly carbonated flatish beer. Grassy aroma with a touch of citrus, refreshingly bitter taste, but rather thin and watery. Pretencious.

Bottle: copper colour with a rapidly fading white head; aroma is predominantly malt with a nutty touch; a tangy malt taste with a good balance of bitterness as an afternote. A classic English ale.
