Cask at Welly. It pours black with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is soft, sweet, juicy, berry, dried fruits, jam, cocoa and rich roasted malt. The taste is drying, bitter, charred wood, rich roasted malt, earthy, smoke, resin, burnt pine, alcohol, berry and dried fruits with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty punchy and robust. Maybe too drying, but alright.

Cask at Wellington. It pours hazy pissy golden with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, juicy, tropical fruits, fruit pie, spice and ginger. The taste is dry, bitter, spicy, soft fruity character, zesty citrus, straw, a bit chewy and grass with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Aroma is better than taste. Ok.

Cask at the Wellington; hazy yellow pour with a bubbly off, aroma has pineapple, taste has crisp citrus, some strange cardamom spice.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/5/2017. Slightly hazy gold in colour, with a tight, white, head. Massive tropical fruit character, almost to the point that the fruit juice character became dominant. There was a touch of balancing malt, and some leafy hops before a moderately dry finish. Good overall.

Cask at Reading Beer Festival. Amber-orange colour. Flavour of orange and grass and dust. A bit grubby, a bit thin. A rather sub-optimal brew.

Cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates during their 42nd Beer Festival, 28th Apr 2017. Hazy pour with a heavy lemon presence throughout: not really my thing but nothing wrong with it, just too much citrus for me. Scored objectively, pump clip told me what to expect.

Cask at the 26th Egham beer festival, Egham, Surrey. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee on the nose. Tastes slightly roasty, malty, coffee, quite thin.

Cask at Egham Beer Fest, 13/04/17. Vague coffee aroma, unless that’s just what I think I should be getting? Dark cola brown. Thin bubbly beige head. Milky americano. Light. Some creamyness to it. Long finish. Light weight stout.

A belated Christmas present from AndrewC, thanks Andrew. Clear gold amber colour lasting white head. Some rather good bretty aroma. Good in the mouth. Dry finish. Bretty biscuit, dry lemony. Yes very impressive. Almost Orval like. Thanks Andrew

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 24 Nov 2016) Golden amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with tropical fruit, citrus and grass. Malty, fruity taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit, sweetish malt and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, with a generous hop character. Nice one.
