Foggy gold colour with a moderate white head. Nose: clean biscuit malt, quite a bit of high quality British floral hop. Taste: clean, malty and hoppy. Biscuit, blossom, spicy notes. Light bitterness. A good golden ale.

Cask af the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty, light herbal. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, somewhat light, fresh, herbal, floral, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London 21 Apr 2006) Golden yellow colour, no head. Fruity nose dominated by citrus (mainly lemon) and some wheat. Fruity taste as well, with lots of lemon, starting a bit sweet but with a dry finish. Rather light body, but nice balance where the fruity hops tend to overshadow the malt and wheat. There’s something artificial over it however. (6/5/9/6/6=5.5) Rerate: (Cask at River Ale House, London, 31 May 2025) Pale golden colour with foamy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, grapefruit and grass. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, grapefruit, lemon peel, grass and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Medium body, dry. Tasty, hoppy and refreshing. Nice one.

Original rating 2002: (Cask conditioned at The Grid, Southfields, London). One of the best beers I’ve ever tasted! Top rating at The Great British Beer Festival. A real ale bitter with a complex aroma and flavour, still it’s surprisingly light and refreshing.
