750ml bottle. Cloudy, brown colour with small, frothy, fading, off-white head. Sweet-ish, sugary, fruity, minimally alcoholic aroma, notes of dried fruit, raisin, sultana, date, fig, plum, some rock sugar, caramel. Taste is sweet fruity, caramel and minimally toasty malty, BA addendum, notes of dried fruit, raisin, sultana, a touch of fig, notes of caramel, a touch of rock sugar, bourbon, vanilla; boozy, minimally ardent, warming finish. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, tacky palate, soft to flat carbonation. Too heavy and not drinkable enough to call it a nice sipper. Doesn't make you go for the next sip, rather ponder about the last - and temporize before having the next. Not that bitchin'.

Crisp and bright copper and bronze coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of light bread, yeast, grain and a touch of carmaelised sugars, but nothing major - perhaps some apples and stone fruits along the way as well. Light-bodied; Sharpish, strong malty and biscuity malt notes with some of the malted barley, a dash of flowers and some dryness, but relatively focused on the malt with a nuanced yeast bite towards the finish that if anything shows some cardboardie notes and complexities. Aftertaste shows some soft balances with fruits, dry notes, light malt and a touch of sugar towards the end, mostly from treacle and caramelised sugars, but some from fruits. Overall, a soft and malty, yet yeastie beer with a mellow kick of low alpha acid hops and little else - fairly subdued and grassy/dry, but not horribly complex by any means. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 09-March-2018 sampled a bit more than two years later, at my house here in Washington on 04-July-2020 on Independence Day 2020, while enjoying an all-american beer!

Beer #2 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Fairly clear and copper/bronze coloured body with a very small, single centimetre tall, just off-white head on top that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of alcohol, coriander seed, curacao, yeast, bread, light flowers and softer spices with a dash of pepper and nutmeg and a good deal of malts behind. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich malty, wheatie, yeastie and spicey flavours dominate up front as you'd expect form a Tripel with a lot of the bready and banana flavours from the yeast strain and a dash of bubble gum and light tropical fruits such as papaya and melons with some of the drier peppery and coriander seed flavours showing through as well. Aftertaste is soft and very subdued with the alcohol being very mild along with the yeast and bread components, but there is a lot of sugars and wheat here and of course a good deal of drying spices, such as the coriander seed and the curacao. Overall, a very well-balanced and nicely structured, polished Belgian Tripel (I don't care what the label says) that has aged quite nicely in the bottle and well worthy of a 'milestone' beer rating, for sure, especially after being kept right for so long. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from GlenRo Spirit Shoppe in Monroe, Connecticut on 10-March-2018 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-April-2020. This was the second beer of my 8000th celebration and continued on much better than from before, as this was well worth keeping for 2+ years and having some 8 years after brewing! Bottle drink while watching The Walking Dead during the Coronavirus Crisis 😱 Hazy dark brown, almost no head. Syrup sweet nose, malty, bread and marzipan. Fantastic complex flavor full of raisins, Christmas cheer, almond bitter, roast malt - a powerful and tasty contender in the barley wine scene.

Light pink coloured body with a glowing bronze and copper coloured body, all with a nice, relatively small, single centimetre tall head, just off-white. Aroma of alcohol, very astringent ginger, lemongrass, curacao and heavy yeast with a lot of wheat, grain, floral and fruity components, but the medicinal, very alcoholic and deeply bitter scents remain strong. Medium-bodied; Super assertive medicinal and astringent flavours dominate the flavour with alcohol, curacao, lemongrass, ginger and some tea notes show through, with a lot of wheat, yeast, pungent citrus and yes - more alcohol in the flavour. Aftertaste shows the deeply bittering malt, some strong grain and quite a bit of citrus to battle it out with the alcohol, medicine and bitter finishes. Overall, a very strong and pungent beer that does NOT show the benefits of adding berries or anything else to an already working American example of a Belgian Tripel - this was way too astringent, pungent and bittering, even after two years in the bottle! I can't imagine how strong this was if you sampled it fresh, but this is not a good option, sadly. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 09-March-2018 for US$2,09 sampled at home in Washington, just over two years later, on 10-March-2020.
