Description

Smells like fake Apple jolly ranchers.the finish is god-awful. It’s intensely bad. it starts like an apple candy with lots of sugar but it just gots south from there.

Thank you tderoeck! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ "Adam Chandler Visiting (for real this time)" Tasting. Clear orange, big soapy white head. Nose is extremely sweet peach candy, all sweet & artificial, the liquid from canned peaches. There is too much carbonation, far too fizzy. Ruins the taste, overly sweet artificial peach candy affair, there is worse within the genre.

Clear pale orange beer, big creamy irregular white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: green apples, but also very artificial apple candy, smells sticky. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: yuck, this is the worst of them all. Sticky sweetness, apple candy flavourings, really artificial, sugary and bad. Even commercial ciders taste better. Probably because theyre made with ACTUAL fruit.

Clear deep ruby red beer, big creamy pink head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots and lots of artificial cherry flavourings and aroma, candy, nope. Same tricks again. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: artificial candy cherry flavourings, pretty bitter touch to it as well. Aftertaste: cherry flavoured candy, bitter, bit metallic, very artificial, bah.

Clear orange beer, big creamy white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: nothing else but very artificial peach candy aromas. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sweet start, lots of artificial flavourings, little bitter. Aftertaste: more of the same, slightly hoppy touch. Man this is bad. Not much harvest in adding artificial flavourings, right? Almost opened a FouFoune to wash this down. :p I guess it might sell with 14 year olds or so?

Flesje gekregen van Benzai. Oranjerood bier met stevig schuim. Geur en smaak van toffee. Deze smaak blijft ook even hangen. Dit heeft in mijn beleving niks met bier te maken.

26/V/17 - 75cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent), shared @ Cybus Beer & BBQ - BB: n/a, bottled: 9/X/15 (2017-644)

Gusher alert!
Clear orange beer, big solid creamy irregular yellowish head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: quite some vanilla indeed, sweet, some green apples. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of vanilla, sweet, bit fruity, pretty hoppy bitterness, more vanilla and bourbon present. Aftertaste: some chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, soft bitterness, milk chocolate. Very nice one, surprisingly. Wouldve never thought that a tripel could age on barrels so well!

Monthly bottle share at Chez Sophie: 22nd May 2017. Four way split. 33cl bottle: BBD Dec 2017. One of my offerings. My sweet tooth really took to this. Slight haze to the reddy/brown pour, white wispy head. Fruity and malty, sweet molasses ruling both the aroma and taste, light yeasty notes too.

330ml bottle (2014 vintage) @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, courtesy of Jeremy. Many thanks. Pours a deep hazy reddish amber. Hard to detect the aroma past the thick cheesy smell filling the air from the snacks being crunched and scoffed around me the past hour, but I do believe there is some soft dusty caramel fighting its way out the glass. Taste is quite syrupy rich, lots of strong well-developed caramel and alcohol. Perhaps past its best.

New, limited variant of Triple-0-Seven, from a 75 cl bottle generously shared by tderoeck at Marie’s little garden tasting session, cheers! Very thick and frothy, egg-white, towering high, foamy, lacing head and orangey golden to peachy robe with lots of vivid fizz and translucent flocks of proteins. Aroma of lavender, jasmin, banana, some subtle wet wood, almond, peach, honey, lightly toasted bread, hint bourbon, tree leaves, soap, clove-like phenols, gin. Fruity, peachy onset, sweetish with some banana and red apple notes, sourish redcurrant accent, strong carbonation, very fizzy and minerally, a bit numbing. Caramelly, slightly nutty malt sweet middle with ongoing fruity esters and upcoming spicy phenols, bready especially in the end as more yeast gets in, phenolic and malt sweet finish, bit earthy with a vague oaky vanilla whiff, lingering fruity esters, a dash of leafy hop bitterness and warming bourbon-ish alcohol; the wood remains restrained but is noticeable as an extra drying effect in the end - yet could have been more pronounced for me personally. No idea what the cherrywood’s contribution is, honestly, perhaps shavings of this material were used to enhance the bourbon barrel effect, but as said, woodiness is still (too) subdued as far as I’m concerned. Otherwise a perfectly decent, tasty Belgian tripel for sure.
