Description
19th century land-use plan of the area mentions a brewery owned by a certain Petronnella De Troch.
Even older records indicate that her father, Pieter De Troch, was running a brewery on the same site in the late 18th century. Petronnella married Egidius De Troch and in 1898 their son Louis took the family business over. Louis Married J. De Neve, and their son, also Louis, inherited the brewery and farm in 1936. The same Louis married M.L. Van den Moortel.
Their nephew Jos Raes and his wife M. Vanderhasselt took on the family tradition in 1974 and have been running this rare craft brewery ever since. In 2002, their son Pauwel Raes joined his parents into the family business.
In July 2012 Pauwel & his wife Kristel Schelfthout took over the brewery to continue the brewery tradition !

Gold with a frothy white head that soon fades. Aroma is dank, full of old leather and redeemed somewhat by a floral undertone. Taste is sour the whole way through and a bit acidic at the finish. Medium-bodied, balanced carbonation. Lacks both nuance and likeability.

Poured from 375mL bottle (dated 18/9/21). Murky brownish red with small white head. Woody, dried dark cherry, mild tartness, artificial sweetness, has some oxidation going on. Needs improvement.

Bottle picked up from Bierparadijs Maasen nr Utrecht, Netherlands and consumed at home Sunday 23rd January 2022 listening to Idles - Crawler and preparing a Pork Wellington and Loz has made Macaroni Cheese. Pours scarlet with a light pink head. Really sharp and sour, bitter cherries, some balsamic vinegar, nice nose, cherry but a little dusty touch. Wow this is super tart, but good.

Bottle at the Munich Ratebeer Christmas tasting, at Jonas's, Garching, Friday 17th December 2021. Pours hazy yellowy urine colour with a white head, cheese and lemon juice on the nose. A little rough around the edges, lemon cheesecake, but tart with a dryness. Good, I like this.

Bottle at Christmas. Lightly hazy golden straw, very little to no head. Smells funky like Grandma's shoe cabinet, notes of sour pear or something like that. It's really pretty sour and acidic, moderate complexity. It's like sucking on a tasty lemon.

Bottle. Hazy pale yellow, lowish head. Citrus, cork, old leather aroma. Lemonjuice, light vinegar, tart on the palate, lime acid, not much complexity in the back.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is fizzy candy, stinky feet. Taste is lemony, Vitamin C tablets, leather, very sour. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. A bit too acidic if you ask me.
