Description
The brewery started with the first brews in 1995 and brought the first beers to the market in 1999. The brewers work according to traditional brewing methods to produce distinctive beers from the noble raw materials of barley malt, hops, water and yeast. The quality of the products is guaranteed by modern equipment in constant evolution and systematic analyzes of every brew in the laboratories of the Abbey Notre Dame d'Orval.

Bottle @ Lots of Mark Knofler and Fransk’ kartofler, Ulfborg 2016. Bottle 216/300. Pours black with a creamy beige head and lacings. Vinous and deep nose. Woody with quite some grappa characther. Roasted and dry flavor with dark dried fruit and ashes. Harsh rough bitter roasted finish.

Bottle, #216 , 9%. Almost black with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, ash and hop. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, medium sweet, licorice, wood, brandy and medium bitter.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, licorice and wood. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. Lacks body. 111116

Bottle @Ulfborg. Black with small light tan head. Woody, roasted aroma, notes of what could be grappa. Flavour has mild roast and alcohol. Light body.

Bottle(0.75l): Deep golden, hazy to cloudy, bigger - firm white creamy head; moderate nose of herbal-piney hops, some malt and a very distinctive yeasty backbone detectable; moderate, dryish, bitter-sweet flavour, almost medium-bodied, pretty soft; slightly lingering bitter-yeasty finish. O.K., but the belgian yeast does not harmonize very well with the hops...
