Cask gravity dispense at Chequers, Wareside, Herts. Very dark brown/black, no head. Bit like an old ale, quite sour with prune fruit flavour. Some raisin. Quite a lot of flavour on the finish. A proper sour porter. Sour prune finish. Odd, but good to have. Bit of coffee throughout too.

500ml Bottle from Sainsbury’s. A warm golden colour, some citusy notes and quite hoppy, fine but not that exciting.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Copper colour with thin white head. Lemon/lime citrus and good resiney hop aroma. Unfortunately it is pasteurised and there is a bit of boiled sweet. Just a bit dull in mouth, before a good hoppy citrus finish. Starts well, finishes well, it’s just the bit in the middle that lets it down.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, dark amber with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of malt and fruit. Rather dry body with notes of malt and nuts. Completely standard session beer. 200106

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Reddish brown beer, with thin beige head. Bit of boiled sweet. Some nice nalts, ok in mouth. Good malts run on with a goodish pepper hop finish. Not as good as on draught. Again that boiled sweet flavour lets it down. Some brown sugar

Cask handpull at Pillars of Hercules, London Xmas Pub Crawl. Very malty. Lots of dry malt as Chris pointed out which is no bad thing, because I quite like that. Thin beige head. Really quite like this. Slightly dry on end and even a bit tarry. Good winter beer

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful, deep amber with a huge head. Floral hop character in the nose. And completely dominated by bittering hops that make my taste buds go almost numb. Malts battle to surface in this, and I do sense a slight nuttiness underneath the hop overkill. 040402

(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden with a small creamy head. Incredibly lovely floral hop aroma. Light-bodied and fresh with a dry, harmonious bitterness. A pleasant - and organic - experience. "Yella bellies" was supposedly a nickname for mustard pickers. 171001
