Bottled(750ml). -Black coloured, medium sized brown head, bitter coffee and light hoppy nose. Very strong roasted malt, chocolate and coffee taste with notes of licorice and dried fruits. Also some touch of wood. Very smooth and easy drinkable with mild notes of alcohol. Bitterish roasted finish.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado who brought it from the Netherlands (thanks a lot!) Poured a black body with an ochre head. The nose isn’t too prominent and first. Bready, dark malts, some hop and yeah, coffee. The taste starts with a strong burst of chicory... like the thick and tarry chicory based coffee replacement before you dilute it with milk. Some dark fruits show up then, along with some figs, some alcohol too of course. Some chocolate though. The hop is completely covered up by the other stuff, showing just enough to make its presence known if you concentrate. Didn’t think it was the most complex IS that I’ve had, but it’s very, very nice.

Cask, 11% at GBBF08. Good creamy vanilla aroma. Black colour, very small light brown head. The flavour is very powerful, roasted, vinous, liquorice, and a good amount of alcohol and vanilla. Citric hoppiness. Citric finish with burning and rough alcohol.

Rerate: had loads of fresh and old bottles from the first batches (basically all from the old brewing equipment) and this rating is for all those samples. Pitch black, short frothy brown head. Absolutely amazing aroma of chocolate, mocha, soy sauce, roast, dark fruit. Perfect balance in sweet and bitter. Stunningly good beer, each time I try it. If only the new versions could even be half the quality of the old ones. A fresh one would give a 3.9 or something. The 5.0 is for the older batches. Original: Rating 2500. Bottled at NoiZe 30th birthday party. Pitch black color. Good aroma of coffee, dark malt, good quality. Bitter and dry taste, roasted malts. Bitter and dry palate. Again good dutch stuff. 4.8

One of the best IPAs ever. Great aroma of pine, citrus, and sweet malt. Cloudy gold color and a thick ,cream colored head. Abundant hops in the flavor, with bitterness and a hop burn lashing at the palate. Flavor has ine and malt as well, in addition to passion fruit and star fruit. Thick and heavy for the style. Balanced by sweet malt.
