Dark brown coloured, medium sized pale brown head, light chocolate fruity nose. Lots of sediment floating in the bottle and glass. Moderat sweet and light roasted malt, bitter coffee and chocolate taste with notes of smoke yeast and alcohol. Simple and very nice brew.

Bottle at ÅBF08. Sweet hop aroma. Good hop flavour, teaish and refreshing. Quite cloudy dark orange color. Very flavorful and good. 7 3 8 4 18
Bottle, 9.2%. Stored in my cellar for probably five years. Caramelly hop aroma, sweetish with a hint of urine. Citric aroma hop as well. Almost clear shiny copper colour. Small creamy white head. The flavour is creamy with a good citric aroma hop. Late cream flavour, nice vanilla finish. Good alcohol presence. 8 3 9 4 18

Dark brown colour, tan head. Aroma has licorice, vanilla and roasted malts. Flavour has some chocolate bitterness, but sweet malts are more prominent, with some fruits. Ok beer.

Bottle 238/548 (2008 vintage) courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!) Well, rate no.700 turned out to be for a better beer than I expected. Poured a dark murky red-brown colour, almost black. Medium sized tan head that went away slowly. The nose was quite subtle at the beginning, with only some weak dustiness and roastiness showing themselves, but as the beer warmed, some nice malty and nutty notes showed up. Nougat too. The taste was great at the beginning. A superb dark fruit maltiness, silky as Ogi put it, with some alcohol and chewy hops. Some chocolate. A long roasty and hoppy (bitter) aftertaste. Some dull yeastiness showed up later and enveloped everything and the beer actually got a bit worse as I went through it. Still, it’s a very good, very drinkable imperial stout, no doubt about it. I just wish that the taste remained on the level of the first impression.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!) Poured a murky velvety dark dark brown colour with a light tan medium-big head that went away slow. THe nose is quite nice. Fruity (grape juice?), milk chocolate, caramel, some dusty smoke. The taste is dominated by a coffe like smokey bitterness mingling with... apples? and alcohol. Some very faint hopiness. Coffee in the aftertaste. Simple but very drinkable, it’s a quality stout but it’s far from brilliant.

Bottled. Cloudy brown color, medium head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, hop, but also with some caramel and toffee. Taste of malt and caramel, slight bitter only. Decent stuff, but not exceptional.

Bottle (from Ron’s stock in De Molen warehouse. Thanks Ron & Menno!). Black color with a medium beige-light brown head that diminishes slowly, bubble by bubble. Aroma has very nice roastiness with cocoa and coffee and alcohol (and maybe some fruits) hints. Sweet flavor with lovely malt roastiness, some coffee and alcohol notes. Finishes bitter with some hops and subdued citric (and maybe some eucalyptus as Joris mentiones) hints. Medium-bodied and not as thick as most big stouts. I really enjoy the roasted character on this one and like the Porter, this one is highly drinkable (maybe some of it thanks to its not-too-big body).
