(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 15 Aug 2025) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, peat smoke, spices, oak wood and a touch of brandy. Malty, roasted taste with sweet espresso, soy sauce, smoke, peat, oak wood, vanilla and a balanced roasty bitterness in a warming, slightly boozy, finish. Full body, quite sweet. Rich and powerful, with balanced flavours of wood and smoke. Very nice.

A small bottle from the off-licence opposite Jing Mei fire station. Aroma: very rich, predominantly chocolate. Appearance: opaque cola, massive head of tan cream, fills a 500ml. mug to the brim, looks beautiful. Palate: full-bodied with a full and chewy mouth feel, softish carbonation; finishes long and roasty. Taste: lightly bitter, sweet notes defer to the roast; chocolate from the aroma outweighed by a big coffee hit. Alcohol sneaks in through the back door. Pretty good, could do with a slightly sweeter finish.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 23.02.2029) im 2025-10 getrunken. Bei diesem Porter ist die Fassreifung sehr dominant mit seinen Bourbon-Vanilie-Aroma gewesen. Der hohe Alkoholgehalt ist hervorragend eingebunden. Ein gutes Porter!

Aus der Flasche (bbe 09.07.2026) im 2025-10 getrunken. Bei diesen Ale ist der Name klar durch das kräftige Zitronen-Aroma umgesetzt worden. Aber auch die Zitronensäure ist überraschend sehr presend was man schon mögen muß. Ich finde es spannend und dieses Ale ist echt was für ein heißen Sommer.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 08.08.2028) im 2025-10 getrunken. Dieses Stout hat neben einem klassischen Schokoladen Aroma auch eine feine Fruchtnote, allerding ohne jegliche Fruchtsäure. Neben der Balance wirkt diese Stout die wunderbar stimmig. Toll!

330ml bottle. Hazy, amber colour with small, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy fruity and slightly herbal aroma, rather neutral, malty background, notes of lemon, lemon peel, old lemon peel, a touch of salted lemon. Taste is sour-ish, citrusy fruity, minimally grainy, pale malty basis with low residual sweetness, notes of lemon, old lemon, lemon juice, lemon peel, old lemon peel, a touch of lemongrass.
Slightly mushy texture, slightly astringent palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
Quite sour, not overly re-(fresh)-ing - so-so.

0.33 l bottle from 'Mr. Hop', best before August 2027. Hazy, ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, quite yeasty-spicy aroma of banana bread, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut and some clove. Fairly sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy taste of chocolate, banana bread, caramel, hazelnut, vanilla and some clove, followed by a short, moderately bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Too sweet, too heavy on the adjuncts, nevertheless a decent sip.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 14.07.2027) im 2025-10 getrunken. Diese Milkstout zeigt eine schöne Kaffeenote mit einer ganz feinen grünen Paprikanote, die aber nicht stört. Am Gaumen ist schön cremig und hat trotz seine Bitterkeit der Röstaromen recht ausgewogen. Kein schlechtes Ale!
