Description
The first references to a brewery in the Weltenburg Monastery are to be found in the Weltenburg Nekrologium, in which it states that the master brewer died. Another scientifically recognized source is a recorded entry in the “Libellus Traditionum”, which is over 900 years old, and which dates from shortly before or after 1050.
In the barely millennium to the present day, monastic beer production in Weltenburg was only interrupted by the secularization from 1803 to 1846. In 1846 the brewery became monastery property again, and it has remained there to this day. The Weltenburg monastery brewery can therefore rightly be called the oldest monastery brewery in the world.

Backlog July 2008. Clear, deep amber body under a fine tan head. Aroma has dark malt, dry fruit, caramel and some chocolate. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, chocolate, dry fruit and balanced moderate bitterness. Fine balanced body with a fine aftertaste. Nice, tasty and elegant beer.

Huge thanks to WillemsUrenkel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep golden, nice head. Starts fine malty-spicy, not too alcoholic. Woody-spicy notes, fine bitterness in the background. Finish with a light metallical touch. Nice!

50 cl bottle( wish was a smaller bottle) .Amber colour with medium creamy head that lasts a few seconds. Good lacing .Caramel and lemon aroma. Caramel and lemon taste. Just hate the flavours interaction. Not sure if I’m going to finish it.

Another beer with characteristic Weltenburger signature .50 cl bottle.Pale golden colour with thick medium head with lacing.Lettuce aroma. The taste is hay, floral, malt and others that I don’t care about cause I’m simply enjoying this beer.

Beautiful dark cloudy gold colour with a nice head that last long and with lacing.Aroma is mostly citrus. Taste is mainly orange zest /grapefruit.Medium carbo and thin body. A bit watery for the style but still enjoyed a lot because it doesn’t have that overwhelming caramel taste of other Kellers

0,5 l bottle. Highly subjective analysis cause I’m not drinking this exemplar at the right temperature . I don’t like how the bitterness of the hops and the inherent sweetness interact.Don’t like the finish as well.Worst from Weltenburger Kloster so far.

Leaves aroma.Medium white head that holds for a few minutes.Golden/orange color.Malty kind of unami also with a bit of hops and dry finish. A bit too sweet for my taste but it is refreshing and overall balanced.
