2007 capped bottle. Very dark brown color with a humongous tan head. Aroma is quite heady - alcohol, bourbon, dark malt. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor of dark fruit, alcohol (though it’s not heat exactly), treacle, wood, light coffee and chocolate. Finish is smooth and chocolate.

Clear orange-red body, thin cream head. Pumpkin spice nose, sweet and sugary. Body with potent cinnamon, caked nutmeg and pumpkin. Robust and rich without being syrupy. Good.

Pours with small head that quickly recedes into a halo lacing. Color is clear dark orange-copper. Aroma is rather hefty with at first a hit of allspice. Then comes a little bit of a candied Christmas tree. Some light biscuit/pie crust in there as well. Taste is more of an even flow with the pie crust and allspice. Long aftertaste of spices (clove very vibrant). Mouthfeel is average but I with all the pie crust I would like a fuller body to go with the beer. With 8% I would have liked a slightly less attenuated brew.

Slightly hazy straw body, thin-medium off-white head. Bready, cerealy aroma with grassy, spicy hops. Cerealy body with slightly tangy malt and grassy, bitter hops. Light. Crisply carbonated. Bready finish. Average pilsener.

12 fl oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at Lukas, Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is a hazed golden orange with a nice 2 inch white head. A few carbonation bubbles. Nice patchy lacing left behind as head falls. Aroma of herbal, clove, lemon peel citrus and grassy wheat. Some sweet perfume sour present as well. Nice, complex nose. The taste features the cloves, lemon peel and wheat, at the expense of the floral grassiness. Taste is good, just expected a bit more softness and integration after the nose. The aftertaste is bitter, with more of the herbal cloves. Palate is medium, and pretty lowly carbonated. Overall, a nice Saison.

2007 bottle. Deep coppery amber color with a multi-finger off-white head. Rich malty aroma. Medium body with mild creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with mild spicey notes and hops. Extremely pleasant, but not challenging. Really good to drink.

Scored this via Secret Santa July 2008. Thanks Saint Nick! 12oz bottle pours a slightly watery, nearly opaque black with a thin, delicate tan head. Aroma is all coffee, some roasted nuts and toast. Flavor is more coffee, some dark brown sugar and a touch of bitterness like a lemon rind. Slightly watery on the palate. Definitely a coffee stout, but could have used a maltier background to give it a little more.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Pours hazy bright amber with a nice beige head. Aromas of sugary caramel and a light touch of funk. Medium body with frothy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly barnyard, over roasted malt and some spice. More malt than most Biere de Gardes. It is fruity, and it finishes towards the dry side. Very chewy and tasty. Leaves a very good result in the mouth.

Tap at Schlafly Bottleworks. Very dark amber/brown color with a beige/off-white head that clung to the glass. Strong pumpkin pie spice aroma. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. It’s pumpkin pie flavor. Finishes with spice all over the mouth. My chardonnay drinking spouse loved it.

Tap at Schlafly Bottleworks. Dark amber color with a creamy, slightly lacing, white head. Aromas of sweet malt, suggesting a Belgian tripel. Medium body with somewhat biting carbonation. Flavor is like a light Belgian amber with something like clove.
