From the bottle. Very dark brown with a tall and foamy head. Aroma of blackcurrant, chocolate and overdone toast. Taste is mildly bitter with herbal undertones, including tea and parsley. Body is to the light side of medium, carbonation moderate to prickly, at times a bit empty. Overall though decent stuff.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. My first Old Ale, interesting. Pours hazy dark brown, almost black, reddish hue, with a lasting, small, frothy, tan head; little lacing. Subtle aroma of raisin, licorice, espresso, smoked ham, ash, dried fig, fondant, some iron. It tastes light to medium malty sweet, caramelly, a bit chocolatey & nutty, and light to medium roasted bitter, like coffee & toast; touch of dry, dark fruits. Shortish, toasty finish, slightly herbal hoppy, faintly metallic too. Medium body (at best), watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Without prescience, I'd call it a plain Stout. Okay.

Bottle from Willems, Grobbendonk. Hazy golden colour, white foam. Sweet start, some fruitiness, bit bready, malty, light hoppy finish. Very drinkable. Reminds me a lot of a good German Helles.

Thuis uit een flesje. Donkerbruine kleur, mooi vol beige schuim, dat helaas snel inzakt. En aangenaam donker biertje, precies goed qua abv.
